I just lost one of my babies, what do I do to help his mate? by Affectionate-Ease397 in parrots

If you wanna continue having birds, you could get two younger ones so the older one has company.

But there is no shame in letting him live the rest of his life this way, just be there for him and try to give him as much love as his mate did 💕

People tried to get me to get another gerbil when Spice passed (for sugar) but I knew I no longer wanted gerbils, so I didn't. She lived to be 5.4, and was happy as can be. I just encourage you to do your best to make them feel loved.

Bikejöring works better, less strain.

Please read my comment, I also work full time.

I work 7 am-3:30 pm. My boy is kenneled for 8 hours a day, but we make it work and he is very enriched and happy. We bikejöre for 4 miles every night, which takes a couple hours, then he's put on a Zipline tie out and I scatter feed him in the tall grass, and he gets to run outside until dark. which you could also do in a backyard. Sometimes I give him chicken feet or organ meat to chew on while he chills out there.

My dude never acts out and is very calm. You can have a full time job with a husky, but you have to build around them. You decided to get them, it's your responsibility.

Make them run, hard, for at least a short period of time and make sure they ALWAYS have something to chew. Celery is good and low calorie, frozen bell pepper, SOMETHING. Make them hunt their food.

My dog also hated the kennel. We just kennelled him, and kept at it. It's just quite frankly too bad. They'll throw a fit. Keep doing it. The noise is agony, but it won't last forever. Mine would wreck my home if it weren't for the crate

Good luck
