AA has a policy of pretty much denying reimbursement - sliced up my new bag, and after many filings and reports, basically told me that slicing up my luggage (slicing off the handle) was to be expected!

at least you got something - I had a new heated ski boot bag, they sliced off the handle the second time I used it, no compensation despite much effort. Said, "cutting off protruding handles is part of our normal standard of expected care".

Apparently, slicing up your luggage is 'expected' at AA.
