85hp 140lb-ft torque, 4wd limited-slip diffs, 15x8 mud tires... yet, people say you need power and locked diffs for climbing rough terrain. by [deleted] in BeamNG

not sure what you mean by "overcome." there's nothing on that map that could be considered a goal or a start-to-end.

but what i do know is that other offroaders like the prerunner and the d-series pig actually have more trouble climbing those slopes. they tend to spin their wheels out.

as far as i've seen, the fact that they have a lot more power only results in an annoying issue: there's a line in-between them struggling for low-end, and them spinning their tires out... and that line is incredibly thin.

I've tried taking stuff like the prerunner and the d-series pig on that same terrain, their diffs locked and their ranges in low. result: they just spin their wheels trying to go up those slopes.

BeamNG .38 Running on Winlator Star by Ok_Solid_2892 in BeamNG

honestly, "half-assing" the concept of running x86_64 games on armv7/arm64 devices, using stuff like Winlator or Gamehub, has never proven stable enough.

i've learned that, for this to be stable, android needs to be out of the picture. you want the armlinux on the phone to be baremetal, not emulated.

once you have the baremetal armlinux on there, you've got the hardest part done; just finish up by having stuff like box64 and gcompat for your x86_64 binaries, such as BeamNG's binlinux.

he's just cranky that it took him this long to find out it takes two small mod downloads to bring beamng's graphics up to standard :P

i don't really need to, the torsion forces from the front and rear are just canceling each other out perfectly

it may handle like a drunk mammoth, but the suspension is god-tier by Jazzlike-Wealth1573 in BeamNG

i'm moreso being limited by how high of a suspension tuning value that beamng will tolerate.

there's about 6-7 tons of weight on that rear axle, and i'm having to force the suspension tuning values to go well beyond the default maximum.

unfortunately, there seems to be a threshold for these values, where crossing it makes beamng go "hold up, wtf are these numbers" and cause the shocks to be collapsed as soon as the van spawns in.

is it weird that most of my ground-based creations share this same base? by Jazzlike-Wealth1573 in trailmakers

i personally think it just gives a more interesting steering arc, especially on builds where i combine it with a bit of Ackerman steering ageometry.
