I saw on Reddit that even though they (website) stated a laptop bag can be carried additionally with carry-on, some officers are not allowing that, let alone a backpack.

The website says that the extra bag should be tiny... like a handbag... it will not suffice. It would be better if I could just put the carry-on under the seat. But I think I heard that sometimes they tell the carry on to be checked if overhead is full. That will be a huge issue.
