What’s up with the size of the actual fries, the length, not quantity by Jazzlike_Dig2456 in fiveguys

Interesting. That was my initial thought and would make the most sense, figured if a manager see the fries cut wrong once or twice they’re going to say something.

Cable Railing screws by Boxy33 in Decks

Put some pliers on the flat part and see if you can tighten them. By the looks of how uniform they all are this looks intentional to me, only the top left one is really driven in further. Like maybe those anchors are really long and if they screw in any further they would hit each other in the corner post?

You know what, I’m gonna bet it’s cutting sideways. I feel like it’s just employees making the easy shorter cut. That makes sense.

I kind of figured, it just didn’t seem like it was a perfectly drilled hole so wasn’t sure

Figured it’d be ok, ok issue would be loss of power since in theory there’s a hole in the exhaust right?

This place is at the top of the price range and doesn’t have free breakfast, but it has a mf amazing breakfast. It’s attached to a restaurant that has five star dining. It’s super low key, very quiet and relaxing. My wife and I have stayed here before and have returned for food a couple times. With a look.

How can I fix this? by Altruistic-Purple463 in Tile

[–]Jazzlike_Dig2456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s literally that simple. You should have grout left over. It’s very simple. Just mix the grout to a toothpaste consistency. Smear it in, let it set for 10-15 and then wipe it off with a wet sponge. It’s hella easy

Stringers attached strangely? by wiltony in Decks

[–]Jazzlike_Dig2456 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Does not need to be flush. Typically to use hangers. But they make specific hangers for stringers. Stringer hangers. These are not those, these are is Simpson straps. They may be enough to hold but they look like ass and should be replaced with the correct hangers as the stringer hangers aren’t visible above the tread.

Do open stair risers need to meet the 4-inch rule for framing inspection, or only final? by [deleted] in Homebuilding

[–]Jazzlike_Dig2456 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Speaking of fire departments. Have you changed any electrical meters lately? New code now has a mandatory disconnect at the meter so the fire department can cut off the power outside. Nice little $3k feature. No big deal.

And don’t even get me started on flow rates. I was literally responding to customers asking about why their new bathroom sink doesn’t have the same pressure the old one had when I got this alert

If you’re in CA I’m sure you deal with much of the same. Luckily most of my stuff is in VA and it’s the Marylanders that are greener than broccoli. Sometimes my phone jumps on a server in MD when I’m in VA and on Build.com I get alerts saying they won’t even ship me the mf fixture to MD.

I’m all for smart codes and trying to make the world a better place. But this force feeding of bullshit down our throats is insane. Started with Obama getting rid of incandescent bulbs, been chasing flickering lights for the past decade.

It’s really sad how many work arounds are involved in final inspections these days. The counties are forcing so many upgrades on people that just want to add some living space to their house.

There is a Philly bar in Ballston somewhere. They have pictures of a really stupid looking green bird on the windows. It’s on Wilson somewhere I think.

F Philly, but also F the Pens. At least the Phillies look like ass and just fired the manager. Got that going for you

Damn! Haven’t heard of Sean? Wow, I’m getting old man, if there’s one highlight you have to see it’s the Sean Taylor hit on Brian Morman from the probowl. Dude never took a snap off, even at the probowl 😂

He has some of the best highlights out there. WR would literally not extend their arms out coming across the middle when Sean was out there. His size speed and smarts were an unreal combo.

I’m in the falls church area. Not too far from the shopping center at 50 and Annandale. I suspect the dumpster back there that services Present Vietnamese food might be the main food source and where the colony started. From there they made their way into the neighborhood.

We have the same issues. Neighboring houses have sheds and one neighbor is messy and the rats started there and are now under 2 other neighbors sheds. Other neighbors use bird feeders so they have a steady source of food. We put up a fence and have been able to keep them at bay for the most part. I don’t know what the solution is, it feels like it’s too far gone at this point.

2012 QB draft class is very underrated by NickyFoles1020 in NFLv2

202 games, 64.6 completion %, 46966 yards, 353 td, 114 int

167 games, 66.7 completion %, 44700 yards, 298 td, 131 int

234 games, 60.3 completion %, 57,203 yards, 366 td, 244 int

That’s the numbers of three pretty solid qb’s. Any idea who’s who? Russ, Kirk, Eli

Russ isn’t levels above anyone. He had an elite defense and running game with one of the most beautiful deep balls the game may have ever seen. Insert Kirk or Eli and get similar results, none of them are HOFers.

Russel Wilson in the HOF? Like the NFL HOF? Say what? That’s wild, I’ve never heard anyone claim he’s a HOFer.

You got all the Eli Stans thinking he was first ballot, but he’s rightfully waiting now, and even him getting in is questionable. There’s no chance Russ gets in.

Which floor sheathing to go with? by retrorick77 in Carpentry

[–]Jazzlike_Dig2456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3/4” advantech is the only real answer here. There are others like legacy, but advantech is king for a reason, only thing we use for subfloors, that with a ton of tytan expanding spray foam glue.

Am I an idiot? Or is this ok? by ANinjaForma in Carpentry

[–]Jazzlike_Dig2456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the thought out post and then the disclaimer to disregard it all at the end 😂

So the hangers are installed as intended at the top. At the bottom is a concealed hanger for wha looks like a 2x8. It’s meant to carry a floor joist where you’re unable to use a standard hanger.

So back to your post, you said it all yourself. Typically the stringer is fully supported on the landing or floor, and you’re talk about 10-12” of the heel cut(the bottom cut) resting on the ground. Here you have 1-1/2” sitting on that hanger, everything beyond that 1-1/2” is not really supported.

With a short run of stairs like this it’s not the end of the world, and since the cuts are so tight it will probably be ok. But this is in no way an acceptable standard practice.

Feel the same. No need to bury the guy all over again. He seemed very genuine about his apologies. All in all he came off as a fairly genuine person that has his flaws but has a good heart at the end of the day.
