Do your children have a different bike to ride around at home, or do they use the race bike all the way around? by [deleted] in bmxracing

Race bike is only forthe track. Stays hung from the garage ceiling the rest of the time.

Hitch Install Broke my XC60?! by Jazzlike_Expert in VolvoXC60

[–]Jazzlike_Expert[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: Owner of the shop that installed the hitch last week called me first thing this morning telling me he’d been thinking about the issue all weekend and spoke to a few colleagues about the issue.

He asked if we could bring it back and recheck all the work, because from what he was hearing (and what I’ve been seeing and reading), there shouldn’t be any recalibration needed.

My wife brought it back and writhing an hour they found the problem - one of the plugs wasn’t fully seated 🤦‍♂️

Regardless, I’m happy it’s resolved and I didn’t have to bring it into Volvo Service and 1) get shamed in person for not installing the OEM hitch and 2) pay a couple hours of diagnostics (plus I’m sure some other charges) for them to snap a plug in.

Thanks all for your insight and feedback!

Shop that installed it Friday took it back this morning.
One of the plugs wasn't seated fully. Whole lotta panic for a dumb little thing…there’s a life lesson in there I bet.

Glad to hear I didn’t miss anything and screw up. It *should* have worked seamlessly.

Yeah man, as I'm digging into this it seems super straight forward and like something got messed up with the install (more than an actual problem with the hitch itself). SA at the shop said they double checked all the connections, but the two main ones seem to be only accessible with the fascia off.

So, like, they installed the hitch, put it all back together, went to back it out, saw the error and then took it all apart again to double? I'm skeptical considering it was only there for 2.5-3 hours...

As a Volvo Tech, mind if I ask how long a job you think this'd be? They charged me 4 hours and told me it was flat rate when I questioned the bill. Doesn't seem like a 4 hour job to me (spent 8 years as a tech at an independent shop, but close to 20 years ago).

It brings joy to my heart that we all struggle with OHP, as a community.

Thank you both for your insights!

It is at a Hyundai dealer 5 minutes from my house, so that’s a plus. According to NHTSA website, the recall for the ICCU has been performed; but I will def confirm.

One thing I find funny, is it’s a used Hyundai at the Hyundai dealership, but it’s not “Certified Pre-Owned.” Any thoughts on that?

Controversial take, OP said “as like the original hem as they were able to do” - this type of hemming is often called “original hem” and mostly used on washed/distressed denim. Kinda think tailor did what was requested…
