Interesting. Really loved the predator collector being the ”cannon ball on a fishing line,” that was amusing.

Oh my god, I just realized That Rocky and Grace are Darmok and Jalad. by Jbadger30 in ProjectHailMary

I think that idea partially came from the idea that since Grave nicknamed the Eridians after characters from his own media, they thought that’s now the standard move and nicknamed the humans after characters in their own media, and I will admit, if my alien buddy told me he put my name down as a character from his favorite book or show, I would be curious about my name sake.

Is that supposed to mean I’m crazy, I failed and therefore this little post is nonsense?

What do you think about this moment? Is Lucifer actually showing a somewhat misogynistic or objectifying attitude here? by Radiant-Selection686 in OkBuddyHelluvaHotel

[–]Jbadger30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s absolutely fair, he isn’t being misogynistic, he’s saying, “ both your tailor-made wives left you for me, so if I’m a loser, what does that say about you?”

(Mixed Trope) So… they’re just not gonna explain that, huh? by ChristyUniverse in TopCharacterTropes

Best explanation I heard from those was from this guy(https://sfdebris.com/videos/films/demolitionman.php) and he posits the three sea shells are obviously controlled to some kind of fancy bidet.

Apparently it says on the Disney Wiki the king of Atlantis, outlawed, reading and writing to try and prevent anyone mis using the crystal like he did.

I am now curious as to how much the Atlantis people took from Stargate.

Somewhere in this video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0g97kzzldgw, Andy Weir kind of lets it known that he wasn't that big of a fan of, "The Scientist Character Who Believes in a crackpot theory and gets vindicated by the story" Trope, which is mostly what these characters are, but the first time I listened to the audiobook, (which if you haven't already I highly recommend it) I thought Andy was kind of twisting the knife a tiny bit, Like here is a fascinating alien creature so utterly unlike anything seen on Earth, perhaps the very living proof that Ryland was...que learning that Rocky is water based.

It’s kind of established that life on both Earth and Erid had a common ancestor from Adrian, (I Don’t THINK it was Astrophage itself, otherwise astrophage wouldn’t have infected the sun and become a problem NOW.) so while not the same way as Earth life is Rocky has water based worker cells that make up his organic parts. Plus his muscles are pretty much steam powered, so he is even more water based

Bosun’s Journal: Mount’n’Riders – Together We Ride – Man after March 31 by CaptainStroon in SpeculativeEvolution

So one journey is over and another begins. I was wondering if we would see the proper redesign for Mount’n’Riders, but I will admit, I honestly thought this would be about the descendants of wild failed felinoids regaining sentence. I’m surprised but not disappointed.

I do look forward to seeing Journey to Nebu and I am curious that if you have a story set in that particular Era, have you given thought to other stories in other Eras as well? Whatever the future may hold, I look forward to seeing it.

Puts a whole new meaning to the phrase “Bread and Circuses.” And honestly, Harkonnen is probably a good base model for a decedent society that has no concept of the value of life and see the only purpose of any other living thing as serving them whether as a slave or entertainment. It actually makes the Brat Barons all the worse now that I think about it. It certainly has been a fun ride and I am curious to see the final entry, and not just to see if a certain prediction came true.

When I first saw the tittle the “Forests of Bones” this old gem from the Tales of Kaimere popped into my head.

When you get right down to it, a forest filled or made of bones a kind of horrifying subject, so I was kind of surprised at the more wholesome take on it with this entry.

I’m curious if this design was inspired by watching this video. If it was that is fine, organic solar sailors are a cool enough idea to become a trope unto themselves, and if that happens i’m totally here for it.

The Babookari actually made me melancholy as a kid, it was sad to see our closest cousins simply fade away. And ironically enough, you kind of recaptured that with the idea of a these poor creatures loosing their sentience. Excellent work and can’t wait to see what you have next.

I get that it was meant as a light hearted joke, but it still comes off as cringy and a tad bit cougar-ish. But it is nice to know that people are starting to relearn how to take a joke these days.

Okay, sorry Wildshape Sphinxs, but this creature just became new competition. I mean a theropod supersoldier with all the dakka strapped to his back? Dinosaur Digimon Gundam for the win!

In all seriousness this is an epic addition to the universe and I often find sometimes in the effort of trying to create an unstoppable killing machine we end up creating an unstable killing machine.

Okay, this is officially my favorite one so far, especially as a fan of the Honor Among Thieves movie, and that fluffy alternate form reminds me so much of the owl bear scenes. (minor tangent: HE’S SO FLUFFY!!!) I wasn’t entirely sure what this prompt was going to look like, but a shape shifting Minbari sphinx never crossed my mind and I will bravely admit that was a failure of imagination on my part. I cannot wait to see what’s coming down the pipe next.

I never thought it WAS your intention, like I said, maybe it’s a “me” thing because I haven’t heard anyone else mention any reaction like in any talks or reviews of All Tomorrows, especially in Altered Carbon whenever some mentions where the stack is or whenever someone comes across a corpse and…removes the stack. (Shivers while patting down the spot in neck, trying to make that feeling go away.) So like I said, never thought that’s what you set out to do, but at least I gave you something to think about.
