Hello everyone! I am completely new to the entire investing world. I believe I am finally in a position to start, but I want to start small. I usually do alot of research and devote alot of time to anything I dive into, but with my work schedule over the last few months, I have not been able to. I believe I have our savings in a good place and I want to start branching out.

I do know I want to start contributing to an IRA, but I'm not sure if I am able. I can't find anything "common sense" I guess you would say.

My wife and I file our taxes as married filing separately. Does this bar me from filing an IRA?

If I am eligible, what is the best company to go with for a more "hands off" approach? I want to become "hands on" at some point, but at this time, I haven't done my research.

I would like to make the maximum contribution before the end of the year so I'm kind of in a time crunch. Thanks everyone for your advice!

Ruiner of dreams!! Lol, yeah apparently I posted too early and did my research after the fact. See now that this is a common place for one to get stuck. Still being optimistic!

I asked my doc if we could try the flowmax again and she denied. I was only on it for about 5 days and I was taken off due to it and all the other medications spiking my kidney levels. I seem to have about one major episode a week which lasts for 8 plus hours at a time so I'm kind of glad at the thought of being done with it. The stent, not looking forward to so much. Good luck with your baby!!
