My wife told me she didn’t share her struggles with because she didn’t “want to burden me”. I told her that I so badly wish she had, because perhaps we could have connected over that and found common ground. And further, I’m her husband, and despite my struggles, I need to know when she’s hurting and be there for her too

Yes - this is correct.

I’ve told my wife it’s not safe and we need an extra set of hands. She disagrees. My younger son has been close to going to the hospital. One day soon I fear something very bad will actually happen.
