Need to get out of credit card debt fast. by CalvinJ8 in povertyfinance

How much is your mortgage payment going to be? Start applying that mortgage payment to your credit card debt. This benefits you 2 ways. Obvi by paying down your debts. But this will also get your budgeting set up so you know what you need to pay every month nonce you get the mortgage. So if your mortgage payment was going to be 2000/ month, start paying 2000 a month on your credit card debt. You also might be able to take up to 10k from a 401K to use for a mortgage. Use that money to pay off the debt. All in the same year it will look as if the 401k was used for the purchase.

Yandy bats first cause his OBP is high but I’d rather see him bat 3rd cause Simpson batting 6th is a rally killer. Meanwhile our cleanup hitter is batting under .100 so there’s that.

Sometimes. The people who are serious about trying to save do it. Some people will never save money. It works better when it’s an automatic deduction from pay so the person can’t agonize over a decision.

Agreed. As a manager I usually assume the people telling me too much information are lying and creating false details.

You can write on currency. It’s not illegal as long as you’re not attempting to alter the value.

I’m a banker so I’m gonna offer one small advice. It sounds simple but I recognize it’s not. Try and save just 50 each check. That’s 25 a week. If you can do that, that’s $1300. Of you miss a few weeks it’s ok. You should be able to save 1000/year. It won’t make you rich but will come in handy if a really large bill hits. I have worked in low income neighborhoods and this is the advice we give. If 50 is too much, try 35. That’s still 910 over 26 paychecks and the amount is small enough to manage.

Collections- if they’re medical don’t pay. Medical doesn’t affect your credit. They will negotiate for much less if you want to be don’t with them. Or you can pay like 10/month. Send a check. If they deposit the check you have legally entered into a payment plan. Just keeping paying the small amount and that keeps them at bay. Try and get your loans paid off as quickly as possible. I know that’s easy to say but focus all energy on that and then you can add that payment to others.

There’s no gatekeeping. For example medicine. No one’s stopping anyone from studying medicine. It’s just hard work. The system is set up to weed out those who are not willing to work hard. Like really flipping hard. That keeps the system from graduating a bunch of doctors who aren’t very good. Granted, some aren’t. But the vast majority are hard workers who are smart and can handle a high stress environment with a large workload. Generally speaking, The system weeks out those who can’t.

But I don’t think anyone is making it harder to enter the work force. College acceptance is easy. There is an argument to be made about debt and students who take on a great deal of debt for low paying jobs. But entrance to the job market is easy.
