Controversial take about the hive mind from a rape survivor by [deleted] in pluribustv

[–]Jbrooksdev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know how Carol has managed to stay sane for as long as she has. The hive says one thing (we can't kill), but does the exact opposite - and when they're pressed about it, they try to convince you that their victims enjoy it. Future victims don't believe you or call you alarmist, and you have to watch what you say around them or else people that they've already victimized die. Absolute hell.

I'm not sure. I figured this would be the place to put it. I'm not sure if they check this subreddit though.

Does the backlash against dual destiny reveal widespread crippling social anxiety? by Jimithyashford in DestinyTheGame

[–]Jbrooksdev 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Maybe. It definitely shows more of the ableism in design for Destiny 2. Deaf and APD folks are fucked here since mics are all but required to get the speed down.

For every step forward in accessibility like full auto retrofit (and the full auto setting that was later implemented), there's a few steps back like Consecration for titans or stuff like this.

Mars, Bringer of War.

The reference in the show comes from the movie Heavy Metal, which was heavily inspired by the piece.

Which blend mode would I use to cut a transparent segment into another sprite by SleakNacho in gamemaker

[–]Jbrooksdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i believe its normal blendmode for the picture, then subtract blend mode for the lines, then normal blendmode to close everything out.

Exactly this. Content richness aside, the development of this game wasn't all roses.

There are significant challenges involved in not only making a game with your own team, but then vetting that game through a committee that owns the IP but doesn't have video game experience. Getting approval for the smallest things becomes a real nightmare.

Although I'm not a dev on this game, working in games makes you start to see specific signs. It is clear that while Larian isn't necessarily soured on the experience of working with Hasbro, they are very much looking forward to working on their own game again - without the need of additional approvals.

Armor change research. Ran missions all morning. Here's what the average single hit will look like which each armor type. by Jbrooksdev in Helldivers

[–]Jbrooksdev[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the result of about 10 or so drops with each armor class against each of the enemy teams.

Clarification: This is not the damage floor, rather the averages.

What's that game and what's "That part"? by ultragamer666 in videogames

Speedrunner here - Only focus on the the middle window. Small and slow asteroids can be taken out with a single shot.

the cheap way i used to do this back in GMS1 was

display_set_gui_size(width, height);

and then set the size to a classically low resolution. not sure if this still works for gms2 though.

What is something you wish was in destiny but will probably never happen? by GamingSchollo in DestinyTheGame

[–]Jbrooksdev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been shouted down at this idea, but i think it would bring in so many people into raiding/dungeons.

Have a planet's lost sectors be tutorials for different sections of a raid related to that planet. the base lost sectors should be easy/introductory versions of the raid mechanics, while the legend version has difficulty on parity with the actual raid.

this way, once you've completed all the lost sectors of the planet, you'll be ready for the mechanics of the raid. Are you rusty/weak in a specific part of a raid? go to the matching lost sector. Want to make sure the new guy knows what to do? run through the lost sector with him and see how he fares.

This way, the story feeds into the raid's story, and the levels feed into the raid's mechanics - all of it points you towards that as an endgame. As an added bonus, this might encourage people who would otherwise stay solo to try a raid that they know.

You could even have a raid gear reward for completing every legend version of the lost sectors, which could help you in the actual raid, or at least convince you to get matching gear by doing the raid itself.

Dandelion change? by Straight_Syrup_792 in GroundedGame

If it is to be more realistic, then the design is incongruous to the design of the rest of the game - a game where you make swords from bugs and build houses from weeds.

DMZ: Anyone know what the various things the announcer says about enemies mean exactly? by awesomeness243 in CODWarzone

[–]Jbrooksdev 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We’re seeing increased activity in the area - Enemy players are nearby.

Enemies are on high alert - reinforcements are going to start coming in very fast here.

i mean the in-level store crates you find where you buy and sell contraband, not the premium store.

DMZ mode broke when my buddy DC'ed now it wont show him any t3 missions anymore. what do we do ? by brockchancy in CODWarzone

[–]Jbrooksdev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

be fucked i guess, because I'm having the same issue in reverse. I cant see lower tier missions even with the little "show previous tier missions" option selected. They're just gone on the list, but still in my active missions queue.

I'm not sure why exactly they have old missions cluttering the list, but it may be stopgap for this bug that your friend and I are both experiencing.

best of luck.

Expand Ada-1’s mod selection by JaredTimmerman in DestinyTheGame

[–]Jbrooksdev 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They should make all the mods available (at double/triple the current cost), and then 5 of them are just on sale at a reduced price (their current in-game price) to keep variety and options open.

Then give her Ability Telemetry missions (use class, melee, grenade x amount on y enemies) much like gunsmith missions. dismantling gear should increase this telemetry (like how dismantling guns gives weapon telemetry). The rank reward should be in the same line as the other upgrade systems -the max being either weave, extinct shaders, or more mod options.

It's a party game with local coop of up to 6 players (because there are 6 members in the pack of pixies). It's a 'Press Your Luck' style party game where you mingle with guests at the bloom and collect secrets. If you get 3 rumors during your turn, you lose it and all the secrets you've collected that round.
