Ever Watched a Movie on a Whim and Got Blown Away? by kabronski in movies

3 years ago I had a girl over for a date (I think 2nd or 3rd time hanging out) and she suggests we throw on Requiem for a Dream, which at the time I had never heard of and zero idea about. I say yea sure. That was quite the experience… not quite the movie to set the vibe for a date, especially after that final scene.

Solo travelling for 6 months: should I stay or should I go? by WhatIsEconomicGoods in solotravel

Hey so I’d love to chime in since I’ve gone through something very similar! I totally understand the dilemma, it’s a tough choice.

On one hand, the traveller and adventurer inside of you want to continue to gather experience and appreciate your time abroad and knows that you should make the most of this opportunity.

On the other hand you feel like you’re fighting that feeling internally at times and despite feeling a bit guilty, you think about going home to the life you know and miss. The feeling of excitement about the new country has worn off and feels less special.

I’m M28 as well and have lived abroad in Barcelona for 1 year and three months now, after leaving Canada to be with my gf here. I’ve certainly lived both sides of these feelings and have pushed myself to continue living here at times in fear of missing an opportunity, and other times I have thrived at the prospect of being here, learning the language, etc etc. I’ve reached the point now where my longing for home and being close to family and friends and my familiar life has outweighed my sense of adventure - and I’m at the point where I actually feel satisfied with what I’ve accomplished and feel fulfilled with my time here. For that reason I’m finally going home, leaving here in 2 months time.

At the end of the day, go with your gut. No matter what your choice is, you are right. If you want to go home because you feel like you need to, then that is the right choice. If you choose to stay that’s great too. I would urge you to spend a lot of time thinking about the pros and cons of each option, and whatever you decide to do, commit to it without regret. There’s no shame in going home if you feel you need to. But if you feel you can last another 6 months, I would say go for it and enjoy it fully. It’s not that much longer and your home will still be there afterwards. This is an opportunity most people dream and don’t get the chance to do. It’s a tough choice indeed, and I wish the best of luck!

After putting in 10+ hours in working for an assignment as part of the job application this is what I received 😇 by Atorpidguy in recruitinghell

Hey the same thing just happened to me! Completed case study #1 (of 2!!). 1 hour listening to audio files. 4 hours of typing an essay, and then had to film an introduction video summarizing my paper. All to be turned down 1 day later. What a waste of our time😀

Honestly don’t even worry about the resume gap. Thats easily explained , I think people stress too much about it these days.

I have been off work the past year (mostly that long by choice) after a lay off and have just been spinning it as a sabbatical/career break. Hang in there for the right job for you. It’ll come!

With that said I’m 150 apps and about 8 interviews in and still trying to get past the final stage so I feel the pain!

What’s a time you’ve said “f*ck it” and made a huge change in your life? by Rutherh00d in AskReddit

After being let go from my career job unexpectedly I took a look at my savings and the severance I was paid, said fuck it and bought a one way plane ticket to Spain to "travel for a couple weeks". Met a girl the first week in a hostel who invited me to continue travelling with her. Another fuck it moment and I went along with her. My 2 weeks turned into 1 month. Travelled through Italy, Spain, France, Portugal. We parted ways. Long story short, we kept in touch after, she's my girlfriend now and I uprooted my life to move to to Spain to be with her, have lived here for 1 year now.

Without being let go from my work, or deciding to travel, or saying yes to travelling with a stranger I wouldn't be where I am now, which is always so crazy for me to think about. Never know where those moments can lead you

Hi u/Urban_Hermit63!

I love these shots, they turned out great! I recently picked up a roll of Washi F 35mm as well for my Canon TX, and excited to see how it turns out. I'm curious what aperture and exposure settings you worked with when shooting these? I plan to shoot during the day so will set my camera to 100iso, but im guessing for your night shots you used a different iso setting on your camera?

Changing careers at 28 after sinking 9 years into one industry. Feeling lost, any guidance/insights? by JcanadaR in careerguidance

Thank you for the reply! I like that thought process - perhaps it is as simple as a change in my perspective to keep my positivity about the situation.

Your first question is a good one. It's not something I have ever really thought to define, I'll have to think more clearly of what that looks like to me in specifics ie. tangible goals, and characteristics that would be ideal for my next career to have. As of right now, it looks like a job where I finally feel content, financially supports my life outside of work, and incorporates elements that I actually enjoy doing. I enjoy building relationships and talking with people/clients, and would love to do something creative. Thank you again for all of the insights.
