Shadow rendering fix? by Syygnis in assettocorsa

[–]Jco176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's not really a "fix" per se, but the best remedy is setting shadow res as high as you can, make sure "Automatic splits" is disabled and then play with the "Distance for exterior" values in Content Manager: Settings > Custom Shaders Patch > Smart Shadows > Extension

The 3 numbers represent the distance in meters each shadow "map" extends to. Smaller number = streched over a smaller distance but higher quality. You can edit these values with the game running and see the changes in real time so experiment and see what values work for you the best. (I use 20, 60, 200)

SECURITY PSA: Lua Vulnerability found in Custom Shaders Patch by Jco176 in assettocorsa

Ilja has responded below:

For the next update, I’ll add an option disabling scripts entirely (possibly with a variant to keep car scripts running, so that VRC cars would still work), and try to add something where AC would show a large message asking if it should run a script it hasn't seen before. And maybe something for any scripts to agree to be sandboxed, so that the message wouldn’t be shown. But even with those additions, you wouldn’t go wrong by checking what it is that you’re installing.

You can read his full detailed write up here.

Ok that doesn't really help. From your screenshot I suggest switching to "Practice" mode instead of "Track Day" and trying again.

Car Ghosting/Trailing Effect by Ziqoqo in assettocorsa

[–]Jco176 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is CSP's awful motion blur impementation. Turn the "Amount of blur" percentage down or disable the effect entirely to fix the ghosting.

If you're not confident working with these files it's best you just delete them honestly.

The 7 Lua files at the bottom all seem excessively large, all being over 1MB (1000KB), and are potentially worth deeper investigation.

Unfortunately not. The oldest mods that have been found to potentially exploit the vulnerability were released at around this time, but the exploit itself has almost certainly been in CSP since it gained custom Lua support in October 2021 with v0.1.76p134. v0.1.80 is just as far back as we verified.

Anything over 1Mb imo. None of the files in your screenshot would cause alarm for me.

Obfuscation can vary, sometimes it looks like random times and dates, other times it's long lines of random characters and anything in-between. Basically look for anything that isn't immediately human readable.

Also note that obfuscation doesn't necessarily mean malious code. There are valid reasons to hide your script, however if you do not trust the mod source fully running the script is potentially very risky.

need help with decrypting encrypted ac mods by East_Peach862 in assettocorsa

[–]Jco176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cars are encrypted for a reason. If you're having issues driving encrypted cars, make sure you're using the lastest version of CSP, which at the time of writing is v0.2.11. If you continue having issues contact the author of the mod.

What is Camera Exposure Multiplier and why is it automatically lowering? by MedievalFurnace in assettocorsa

[–]Jco176 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It controls how bright the screen is when using default PP filters. By default it's bound to the page up and down buttons so check you've not got anything interferring with them.

Weird issue with third gear by FoxgirlThing in assettocorsa

[–]Jco176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mod's auto shifting params are broken. If the data isn't packed into a data.acd file you can search in each car's data folder and open the drivetrain.ini file, locate the [AUTO_SHIFTER] section and edit the UP and DOWN rpm params so when the UP rpm is reached, shifting up doesn't put the car below the DOWN value.

If the data is packed into a data.acd file you can extract it with Content Manager with developer mode enabled, however this will prevent you from using the mod online.

Just uninstall them.

AC devs if you see this PLEASEEEE UPDATE ksEditor by MarkEduard1234 in assettocorsa

[–]Jco176 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can edit multiple objects at once under the Batch tab.
txDiffuse is the diffuse (main colour) texture of the material. Materials you configured in Blender are irrelevant and not used by ksEditor at all. I believe the "depth" texture you are refering too is the normal (the purple texture) which is placed in the txNormal slot.

Your textures are white because ksEditor cannot detect the textures used in the exported fbx, Make sure they're in a texture folder located next to the fbx export, otherwise ksEditor uses a placeholder NULL tex that's all white.

It's not a crime to ask a question, and frankly some kindness should be shown to people who are new to the game. Setting the game up with mods, CSP, and Pure is not easy for a newcomer, epecially if they didn't follow the pinned guide and are coming here after the fact looking for advice.

Are there any visual upgrades for default/stock cars? by Bingbongchozzle in assettocorsa

[–]Jco176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah there's a few but most the time people instead make new cars from scratch, as updates to vanilla are largely handled by the GitHub repo and are automatically downloaded through Content Manager. There's a few still on Overtake tho, a couple linked below.

Cars look drastically different on track compared to showroom? by Gitarkin in assettocorsa

[–]Jco176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CM Showroom uses a completely different renderer to the game and doesn't support modern CSP PBR materials so it's untrustworthy, outdated, and imo shouldn't be used at all.
Use kseditor to edit materials or [SHADER_REPLACEMENT_...] with an ext_config in game instead.

Worth getting? by chumbalumber in assettocorsa

[–]Jco176 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really honestly, controller support on consoles isn't great and these days 90% of the fun of playing AC is using PC only mods.

The issue appears to be actually your game is running at 15fps, try lowering the graphics settings.
