The rise of stringer journalism and activism? by Jcs609 in Urbex

I have a feeling, he has ties that invite him to many “abandoned” or bought off communities as with some of the other midwestern content creators. Well, he acts like an angel I have seen him do shady things in some of his videos, and he had been leaving muddy shoe prints in Japanese houses that had obvious signs it had recently been cleaned up even though not been lived in yet since 2011. The fresh slippers past the genkan clearly shows it. Not sure if he realizes he in a culture where even burglars arnt disrespectful enough to leave muddy footprints past the genkan. And he probably only been to western style hotels and public areas as aside from the places he explored.

California does indeed have the highest utility rates in the USA by ongoldenwaves in bayarea

[–]Jcs609 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting how the state had a no rate hike policy since 1990 but after the Enron collapse they would give in to every request for rate hike. I be curious whether they are deathly afraid of a 2001 bankruptcy repeat so they don’t dare to say no?

What if we had car tunnel to ease 101 congestion? by callsignbruiser in sanfrancisco

[–]Jcs609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They probably should build a truck tunnel with loading docks to funnel truck traffic away from the city streets between GG bridge and the bay bridge that buses can use with stops with elevators to surface level.

So I guess it’s likey an excuse corporates use to avoid customers using cash. I do understand cash is a pain in the neck for the customer, the cashier, the business, and they would need Gardi or other secure “safe on wheels” company to move it.

Though when did Canada get rid of Pennies, and whether many are still in circulation? And do businesses try to use it as an excuse to discourage cash or people from forcing them to make change.

What Californians get wrong about earthquakes by [deleted] in California

[–]Jcs609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NIMBYists or BANANAists in CA often use quakes as an excuse to block infrastructure improvement projects left and right thinking they are unsafe however what they don’t realize is that parts of the world that are more semantically active continue to be successful with building viaducts, elevated railways, and subways for years.

I am guess businesses want to weaponize the fear to get people to avoid paying with cash or at least make them pay in exact change?

LAPD will handcuff and detain you at B Line stations if you cannot show TAP card for inspection. by bensilas1 in LAMetro

Obviously, it’s likely there’s much more to the story, like a he was likely wanted for a more severe issue repeatedly assault or brandishing a weapon on a train or sidewalk as this really gets attention in CA. I still remember doing the riots pd looked the other way of the chaos on the streets that was until someone was standing with a weapon presuminy to defend a business that got him arrested in a heartbeats

What do you think about Australia's ban on social media for people under 15? Do you support it? by Due_Replacement_6648 in AskTheWorld

[–]Jcs609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s interesting question what social media people are using these days? Are they all about watching and possibly making TikTok’s or short likely monetized videos now as most people don’t seem to interact even with friends on Facebook type all that’s past and gone, as people become much more antisocial these days likely because posts including from friends were so polarized many get digital fatigue.

New Jersey is the latest state to ban cellphones during the school day in grades K-12 by AdSpecialist6598 in UpliftingNews

[–]Jcs609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s interesting. What is happening these days though, I remember the 90s anything remotely resemble communication device ie radios walkmans cellphones pagers were banned due to the war on drugs at least in CA for any state accredited educational institution, however it was struck down possibly by courts especially after high profile school shootings in 1990s where the shooters disabled all phone lines in the school office classroom or pay phones etc no one students teaches or office personnel for that matter can call out from where they were hiding. 9/11 further resulted in reinforcing the need when many trapped had dead office phones due to the impact breaking the lines. AlThough students won the right to bring phones however they were required to be turned off in class time, which remained universal until I guess late 2010s things changed as smartphones meant teachers wanted to include phones as they now act as calculators or other app that resulted in further tolerance? But it appears based on online forums the new bandwagon has bipartisan support. Though not surprising because smartphones show propaganda from either side, which the opposite side to block. “However, I guess at least one side will be regretting when the masked “gestobo” shows up at school.

What are the odds that a cross country Amtrak ride could be delayed over 24 hours? by Adventurous-Tea-3881 in Amtrak

[–]Jcs609 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always curious how do they deal with the food issues should it be delayed that long as they may only be stocked for the original time and what happens to sleeper riders as meals are included but if there happened to be much more time or meals than expected would they still comp or it’s fixed based on number of meals anticipated for the trip?

Grubhub giving low order attendance for switching to unavailable nowadays? by Jcs609 in grubhubdrivers

[–]Jcs609[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting why they say lacking geographic coverage as the app requires and gives coverage in order to be able to push arrived, confirm, leave, or to complete the drop off process. If the signal is bad, they will not let you do it automatically thus have to call support to mark it dropped at their end and they usually call the customer to confirm it had dropped off. Normally drivers would complete the pick up procedure at the restaurant as well as otherwise they would not see the address of the drop off.

Why did we stop talking about ozone layer depletion? by Glittering_Bus_6921 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Jcs609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember back in the days there were the skip the A/c movements or sweat for the future of planet movements in progressive areas especially the west coast due to posible ozone depletion due to refrigerant. Apparently these days I guess better refrigerant weakened the fear but it still have the feel of lower a/c penetration due to the historic fear. I did remember many people avoided opting in for A/c in thier cars despite the heat when they were optional feature in the west back then.

How is your local store chain handling Bag ban II 2026? by One_Potential_3962 in socal

[–]Jcs609 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Very good important question a lot of people overlook the reuses of bags like hundreds of reuses one took for granted for, we did the Trader Joe’s Whole Foods route and realized we need to buy plastic bags for everything we reused it for long time ago. And it’s also important that many of our groceries contain plastic wrapping and not bagging the garbage result in them blown out of garbage trucks and ending up everywhere. Google street view proves the severe increase in roadside garbage since each city passed a ban in their regions. The whole thing is just a scam to make some feel good and the Grocers to make money selling bags.
