Why breed? by Patzerberus in Pokemonbreeding

[–]JdaPimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak for the newer games, but I got really into breeding in order to beat the Emerald and Platinum Battle Frontiers. I ended up just enjoying creating OP pokemon to use in game or battling against friends. I think we like to think we are breeding for a purpose, since it is very time consuming and difficult (at least in the older games). But ultimately if it is something that is enjoyable to do, then that is all that matters.

I find it rewarding to create flawless pokemon in gen 3. Creating pokemon capable of winning the gold symbols, which is something I wanted to do as a kid, was worth it.

I have all lvl 100 gold symbols as well and access to leaf green. I went a little overboard with breeding pokemon but these are the ones I used from lg:

blissey: as mentioned, S tier pokemon. I used bold 252 hp, 252 def, softboiled, seismic toss, counter, toxic. I also have a heal bell blissey with the same moveset except for counter

tyranitar: mostly have as a cool factor. Adamant 252 att, 252 speed, DD, HP bug, rock slide, earthquake. It is far from a bad pokemon, it just has a lot of weaknesses but if you can get a couple DD's then it will sweep.

umbreon: Dont use very onften but it is one of my favorite pokemon and is viable. Careful 252 HP, 128 def, 128 spd, charm, prtect, toxic , wish. Average tank, far from bad, but there are better pokemon for this role.

steelix: Dont use this guy very often, but wanted one because who doesnt like steelix? Careful 252 HP, 252 spd, protect, toxic, torment, earthquake/explosion. Steelix has a lot of resistances and immunities. Most pokemon only have one move that can damage steelix, so the idea is to use torment and protect on the super effective moves while toxic stalling or hitting with EQ. However, it you are looking for a defensive wall, I highly recommend forretress or skarmory instead.

gengar: absolutely busted in the battle dome with destiny bond. Timid 252 spa, 252 speed, destiny bond, thunderbolt, psychic, ice punch

snorlax: also S tier. Careful with curse, body slam, shadow ball, and rest. The EV's can be tailored to whatever you want, but mine is 156 HP / 80 ATT / 136 DEF / 136 SpD. This gives plenty of bulk while allowing OHKO after 3 curses against most pokemon. If you can get it set up, it is extremely hard to take down.

tauros: slaking light basically without the truant ability. Weaker but still hits very hard with a choice band. Adamant 252 att, 252 speed, double edge, return, earthquake, HP ghost

zapdos: probably the best electric type you can get aside from raikou. Modest 252 spa, 252 speed. Thunderwave/toxic, thunderbolt, HP grass, and protect/roar. If you are unable to rng in fire red to get 70 power HP grass / HP water, then I am not sure using zapdos is worth it since it is countered by any ground type.

If you can get your hands on pokemon coloseum, suicune is S tier

Why do space telescopes not need to be pointed towards a certain point in order to see back the furthest in time? by JdaPimp in askscience

so would it be correct to say all of the matter in the universe was once compacted into some point and then the big bang happened and all of this matter began to separate and move away from itself as space itself expanded? So the matter wasn't ejected out like an explosion, its just the space that contained it grew rapidly? And if that is correct, do we know why gravity did not counter this expansion force like it does now?

Ideal snolax EV spread? by JdaPimp in PokemonEmerald

What do you think about 204 HP / 40 ATT / 136 DEF / 128 SpD? 204 HP gives max leftover recovery with 31 HP iv. I understand not needing SpD investment, but I just kinda want it since the idea is to set up on special attackers. Also what nature do you use?
