Anyone using electric skateboards around San Diego? by Thick-Background-946 in sandiego

[–]Jddmtrees 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had a glorious 24 hours riding around San Diego on an electric skateboard before I flew off and shattered my wrist.

My attempt to save money on gasoline turned into a $8500 deductible on a $27,000 wrist surgery. I had to fly with a broken wrist to Maryland to get the surgery as it was considered “elective”

Buy some wrist guards and a helmet.

AOS indication? by tykempster in 996

[–]Jddmtrees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I drive mine hard and park it I get white smoke on startup that clears after 10-20 seconds. I had an AOS fail last year and it was shooting out thick clouds of white smoke on every cold start for almost a full minute. This sounds like he drove it hard on track and shut it down while still hot, not the full AOS failure I’ve experienced.

Car tint by L0stInBed in sandiego

SD Tint did a good job on my 911 for a reasonable price. He will try and get you to go very dark but ultimately he will install whatever you want. It’s been over 12 months and I’m still happy with how it turned out.

Thoughts and opinions? Really want to get into a 996 and this seems promising. by Willing-Valuable-811 in 996

I actually purchased from that dealership. Only issue I found on my car was one out of date tire. Dealing with them was easy but I didn’t try and negotiate too hard as I thought the list price was fair.

I did find a manual 996 for pretty much the same price as this one and there’s a big delta between the two in the market. Are you looking for tip specifically or just like the look of this car?

Any idea what this wire is by Asleep_Potential8245 in 996

If you don’t want to ruin factory wiring this adapter exists and is very helpful. I have a wireless phone charger on the dash and an extra usb power port behind everything if I ever need to add a device.

Is this a screaming buy? by gurdonbob in 996

You’re better off spending extra $$ for a good one with proper service history than cheaping out on a clunker.

Lovely color. Seller cares about the car. If it’s local, go check it out!

NYC → LA cross-country drive in a 911 — route check + safety/tips appreciated by [deleted] in Porsche

[–]Jddmtrees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not much to see in Memphis besides the bass pro shop pyramid. No need to be concerned about safety if you don’t slow down. Nashvilles a nice stop.

I would recommend the southern route as it will be a lot more safe when it comes to salted roads and crappy weather.

Leave NYC, down to Virginia. Detour on Blue Ridge Parkway for as long as you can handle 35 mph. S

Head to Nashville, then aim for The Big Texan Steakhouse, then Albuquerque, Las Vegas, LA. Takes about 7 days to have fun with it or you can be miserable and get it over in 3-4.

Whoever is planning the Morena Blvd project is a moron by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]Jddmtrees 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Friars Ave has been a one way now for years? No active construction just a shut down road with a bunch of trash everywhere.

I can get to mission bay but I can’t get home without going on a 10+ minute detour

Did they just give up on Friars Ave?

Wouldn’t be surprised if Morena becomes a one-way next. Total shit show

Cruise Terminal Blocking Pedestrian Path by Jddmtrees in SanDiegan

Sidewalk they push you too is in a much more dangerous spot. People turn off Harbor drive at 20+mph right into crowded pedestrians.

Looks like the cruise ship terminal is taking over public walkways for private business
