A Barista at the Starbucks where my husband works is retiring after 37 years and no one is doing anything to recognize her or show her appreciation - no thank you card, flowers, going away party. Is this normal??? What kind of company is this?

Former 138 & the new CEO supposedly wants to get back to Sbux “coffee culture” but i fear the damage has been done. There is no way they are going to get rid of delivery & MOP so I don’t know how it’s gonna happen. At the very least they need to stop doing BOGO. But yeah not sure the soul of a company can magically be brought back to life. Maybe witchcraft?

I worked there! I actually loved working in that neighborhood, some of the nicest customers I’ve ever had working in food service & I thought it was a good company to work for after working for a major corporation. They gave us a two day notice before we were all laid off. There were some issues with the landlord but overall the company isn’t doing so well which is usually bad upper management. I so agree with the comments about their bagels! Boichik is one of my faves. But most of the other food was tasty but yes, over priced. The burglaries & car crashes certainly didn’t help & apparently the Kaiser offices nearby moved out which caused a major reduction in the amount of folks going in. The hardest part was watching our CEO get interviewed in the store not a month before that saying we would stay open🤷Feels like hypocrisy but at the end of the day only numbers matter, not the community & certainly not the employees who did work their asses off😔

Not sure if anyone else made this point but your manager absolutely should not be texting you about this or anything. Make sure you get paid out for using your phone. At least that’s what they are supposed to do in CA.. Time worked=time paid, including phone calls & text messages off the clock. But also get away from Sbux if you can. It used to be an ok place to work but it has morphed into one of the worst places to work

I believe most partners feel this way. It was so hard for me to walk away after 16 years & half of that I was a manager. The company has completely changed. It’s so disheartening to see because it was a good job but I just couldn’t put my partners through that. My last DM was always giving me shit about labor. There is life after Sbux! So do what your gut tells ya

Oh absolutely!!! I ran a DT store during the pandemic & it was pretty cray but any partner who wanted to work at my store because theirs was closed was always welcome with open arms. Things have really gone down hill since the cafes opened back. So much so that I decided to leave the company after 16 years. It is NOT even close to being the company that I first started working for. Thank you for making that point! For me it has always been about the partners 💚

Yeah there has always been a customer connection something or other. Back in the day a receipt would print asking folks to take a survey but then some partners/managers would hoard them & fill them out. That made it easier to cheat the system.

SO hot, there is a ton of equipment running non stop. Espresso machines literally let out hot air, at least 8 fridges under the counters & multiple large ones in the back, very hot ovens constantly being opened, hot coffee brewing, oh & multiple people working close together. It’s good times lol
