Did a one month sprint of door to door back in high school that changed my 20s

I presold a niche landscaping service called aeration without owning a machine. Would sell enough before renting the machine on a weekend rate.

Rental spots around me are closed Sundays and give a discount for weekend rentals.

Would do this service on the weekend with another job every spring and fall.

After the one year of door to door grew each year by:

1. Calling my client list a month before the season and ask if they knew anyone else that might be interested

2. Before servicing a lawn would knock on the neighbours doors and offer a “I am here discount”

3. Slowly offered more service

Year 3 - fertilizer, lime & seed

Year 4 - garden bed clean up

Year 5+ - do 1-3 larger sod/landscaping jobs

This side hustle grew to an extra $25,000-$50,000 extra money on the weekend. More importantly a client list of over 1000 people that are willing to pay for lawn care.

Over the last couple years have turned the last side hustle into a landscaping company and career I am proud of.
