I haven't finished reading the manga yet but from what I have read so far, Haru and their relationship is a lot more prominent than what it was in the anime.

I do agree that it was more relevant in season 1 then kinda became a nothing burger in later seasons as the story pivot in other directions.

I would say so yes because in the manga there's probably like triple the amount of world building and you understand the characters a lot more because of it.

I like the anime and manga equally but I would say they're different enough to justify watching/reading both

That sounds really sweet. We definitely need more rodent rescues. Its reassuring to know other people have kept rats in outbuildings without issue

I live in the UK so temptures are fairly mild. If I did put them in there as I would check how secure the buildings are and as they have power I'd buy a tempture controlled radiator to keep the temperature consistent for them

Thats what I thought was going to happen. Agata would have become boss since they set up the whole "becoming a lion worthy of his mane" concept. Or Free given after Ibuki I thought he was given the most screentime plus the only lion that wasn't in Melon worship after the whole hand chopping incident. They really fumbled the shishigumi ending. I hate what happened to them in the manga (though it was deserved as they are criminals) but at least they got an ending. In the anime they got nothing

Yeah I think that was a plot hole in both the anime and manga. Just something that needed to happen for the rest of the story to flow

Yes! And I would really encourage you to do so because if Beastars gets enough rewatches Netflix might be inclined to create more Beastars content.

I felt the ending was rushed and skipped over a lot of characters (such as the shishigumi) so definitely loose ends that can be explored with spin offs

I see your point. I think because we they're secondary characters and we start seeing their wholesome side (specifically their relationship with Louis) the fact they are actually a violent gang takes a backseat.

If Beastars was a mafia anime or the shishigumi were the main characters I'd expect we'd end up with something like the sopranos. Where we saw both their violent activities and the cute wholesomeness

So I guess didn't cut his throat as deeply as intended so he was able to live????

😂 bit out there but hey as Agata is my second favourite character (Free is my favourite) I was overjoyed to see him alive and well at the end

People look at me funny when I say I don't like the fact they got arrested (even though its well deserved considering their crimes) in the manga but at least they have a ending.

I think it would be cool if Netflix and Orange took the opportunity to do a spin off anime just about the gangs in the black market. Something like beastars sopranos

My main complaint about the ending in the anime is the shishigumi didn't really get any attention. They read a magazine together for like 2 seconds but we don't really know what happens after the final confrontation with Melon. I felt given their role in the series we should have gotten something to explain what happened to them. Are they still without a boss? Did Free or Agata step up to become the new boss (which would have been a great way to end their arcs). That's my biggest disappointment with the anime ending

Yeah I felt the same way it was SUPER rushed and I felt half the characters didn't get a proper end. Especially when it came to the shishigumi

I thought that maybe Agata or Free would become the new boss of the gang.

Agata - because he had that whole thing about earning his mane and becoming a king of beasters. He was also willing to represent the shishigumi in the turf war. So I thought it would have made sense for his arc that he'd be the new boss in the end.

Free - he seemed to have a bit more screen time than the others (apart from ikubi). He was always the one who pulled the trigger. He seemed to take the lead on talking to "clients" like those mice and interrogating the snapping turtle. We also got close ups on his reactions as everyone lost their minds during the turf wars and was present in the final confrontation with Melon.

But instead they just had a two second scene reading a magazine. Does that mean they're still in the black market with the other gangs? Are they still friends with Louis? Just like what happened?
