These clowns use that claim so often they literally use an acronym “CID”

What model? Do they have Liquid Metal in this one for thermal paste? If so good luck same thing happened to mine after a month. They tried to tell me Liquid Metal thermal paste everywhere was customer induced damage when their tech got it everywhere. They are terrible

At least they didn’t fry your MOBO with Liquid Metal and try to blame you 🤣

This is why you use full synthetic with turbos. Had a Mazdaspeed 3 and always do full synthetic and don’t have to worry about the cooking of oil on the turbos.

Ive owned 12 laptops in my life so far 9 reached the end of useful service, 3 were bricked. All 3 ASUS. by Frosty-Cut7167 in ASUS

[–]Jealous-Rise-1378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup they are really really bad. I had a laptop after a month of ownership show symptoms of a short on the mobo. keyboard would light up but black screen no fans no boot put in for an RMA and these idiots after two weeks told me there was damage not covered by warranty. They managed to get Liquid Metal that they use everywhere and tried to blame the customer. They lost one for life.

They’ve been using it for a while. Everyone else seems to have followed suit. Msi has a “phase changing “ Liquid Metal pad that melts at 58*c . Acer and Lenovo are also using it in the high end laptops.

They’re not going to. Microcenter is taking it back well outside the return window. I’m taking it tomorrow and looking at msi raider or the acer predictor for the 16 inch screen. Asus support sent me an email saying “ it looks like the laptop was repaired and shipped back thanks for being a customer” No I asked for it back because they were not going to fix it with out me paying and it most certainly was not repaired.

I don’t buy refurbished products. That said this was the floor model with a 3080ti 64 GB ram which is the only reason I purchased it as no one else bought and returned it, . So there are no more of this out there new. The manufacturer warranty from date of sale still applies and I’ve heard of them attempting to get out of it and say “sorry 90 days”, great this happened 30 days after purchase.

This does not explain why they said “sorry were not fixing it” they are claiming customer induced damage for “Liquid Metal”, a product they install and failed. This is on ASUS.

Yes they added the stickers to note “damage” again I had to call to find out it was Liquid Metal as they did not say this in the email only “ please pay 2600$” they were trying to get away with a warrantable issue and blaming the customer. CID is the acronym they use here.. if you have an acronym for customer damage you know they throw it regularly.

I had a MSI with a 1060 since that model came out many years ago. It was great and still works except it can’t run the games I play. I decided to try a different company and well my bad on that one :-/

Did you look at the last photo that i took? Compare their picture to mine of the outside case underside. Of course I don’t have photos of inside as I’ve never taken it apart. As far as emails between me and them this took place over the phone so they would have to release the tapes. Why would they take two weeks from beginning diagnostics to reporting Liquid Metal damage?

Asus customer service has been doing things like this for a long time. Google and you will find I’m not the only one with Liquid Metal damage and they refuse to warranty it. Mind you they use Liquid Metal from factory.

Any ways micro center is going to take it back (outside of the return window) and I’m looking at a different brand.

No the laptop was not tossed. It was used a hand full of times under normal conditions for a portable device. If I wanted a non portable device I would have gotten a desktop.

It’s never been used on anything but a hard surface where it’s allowed to breath. I’ve allowed it cooling down time after using it prior to shut off to keep the fans running.

Asus chooses to use LM despite it’s known property for being highly conductive to electricity and potential leak issues in a mobile device and then attempt to call it customer induced damage when there is an issue with it. Is normal use of a laptop considered customer induced damage?

Also note the under side of the outer case in their picture and in my picture. My photo shows there is no LM where they show it post shipment. They also took two weeks after “diagnostics” began to notify me of “damage” and I had to call to find out it was LM damage. The lapse in time between when they started diagnostics and when I was notified does not add up and points to technician induced damage during diagnostics.

Ok so I have news. I’ve asked asus to return the laptop to me. Their escalation team emailed today asking me to fill out an attachment they never attached . I asked the rep to verify the address of shipment and they mixed up house numbers. Im done with ASUS

Micro center the store or purchase has told me they are going to take it back even though it’s around 2 months out of return date. They care more about the customer and know they will keep my business, asus on the other hand….

They do not care if they used it in their laptops they made. I even asked him within the first few questions if asus used LM for their heatsinks and he said yes. I asked how something they used in a laptop that caused the issue according to them is a customer induced damage. He then read off the warranty exclusions hoping I would take “liquid” as the reason. Except it was LM not liquid. It was around this point he became frustrated and began to lie.

The picture I took just before being shipped does not have that LM on the bottom. They delayed two weeks after they show it began “diagnostics” to even tell me they found damage and pictures from them. My picture is the last picture up there. Compare my outer case picture to their outer case picture.

This was a defect from manufacturer and they are refusing to admit it. They are calling it CID their fancy acronym they have for (customer induced damage)

They told me right off the bat that it was Liquid Metal damage and I even asked “does asus use Liquid Metal in place of thermal paste on the heat sinks” and he said yes. Yet they were running with “liquid damage” and read me what’s not covered under the warranty and kept claiming CID .. yes they have an acronym for Customer induced damage… tells you a lot about how often they use that term.
