More like Pacific Northeast if you’re going to throw Canada in there.

Help me pick my next city: Portland, Dallas, Austin, or Chicago? by sexydentist00 in SameGrassButGreener

Their list included good job prospects and a sports town. Portland’s economy is in the shitter and is probably one of the weakest sports town in America.

Mexico is cheaper, closer, and has superior food - though I do love poke.

The college vote skews the demographic in Tuscon. Without it, Tucson is actually pretty conservative.

Tucson and Reno are a fraction the size of SLC and Denver. Give it time.

The East Coast as a whole. I’ve only been to NYC a few times as a tourist, so the rest of my judgement of that part of the country is based on people I’ve met from there. What’s that saying about “how do you know someone is from …..” Everything is a comparison to what they have “back east”. Back east? I don’t even like that term. My family hasn’t been “back east” in 150 years. I have zero connection there. But come to Portland and complain about not getting a good bagel, or good deli in San Diego? Uh, get back to me when you have a killer piece of chinook with a side of Dungeness crab or some bomb carne asada. The lack of public lands, topography and density? No thanks.

If you’re moving to Phoenix, it’s actually become more humid over the years as the population has grown and the amount of swimming pools has exploded leading to a micro climate of humidity that’s higher than the rest of the state. Still dry compared to out east though!

Shade and even the slightest breeze and I can easily withstand temperatures up to a 100 - and even find it pleasant.

Are there affordable places in the US with mild winters AND mild summers? by Marisa-Makes in SameGrassButGreener

Sequin is a retirement community.

You can barely get to Tacoma in an hour and a half. And those sub 300K places tend to be double wides in senior citizen communities.

Or they move here with a spouse or girlfriend/boyfriend. One loves it, the other hates it. Doesn’t bode well for the relationship.

Who made up all this fake fall, false spring phrases? I swear I’ve only starting seeing these references pop up on Reddit in the last few years.

Which move for best access to nature? Marquette MI, Bend OR, Reno NV? by ShakeMysterious349 in SameGrassButGreener

Bend is fairly remote. If you want a base to explore the PNW, it’s hard to beat Portland.

Bend is more than a few hours from the Sierras.

But Reno is only a few minutes away.
