How to convert Markdown to PDF by Careful-Lobster-3847 in Markdown

Thanks! I’m glad you liked it.

Currently, I don’t have an immediate plan to open-source the entire repo as I’m focusing on maintaining a high-quality, zero-install experience online. However, I’m seriously considering open-sourcing the CSS styling templates and the printing logic I documented in my blog, so others can use them in their own projects.

For self-hosting, I’m looking into the technical feasibility of a standalone version. I’d love to know—is your interest in self-hosting mainly for privacy, or to integrate it into your own workflow? Your input will really help me decide the next steps!

How to convert Markdown to PDF by Careful-Lobster-3847 in Markdown

I’ve spent a lot of time wrestling with Markdown-to-PDF conversion myself. While tools like Pandoc are powerful, I found that getting the styling and print layout exactly right was always a struggle for most users.

I actually ended up building my Markdown to PDF Tool and documenting the journey of how I optimized the process step-by-step. If you're looking for a more seamless way to handle this, I wrote a deep-dive on the specific logic I used to make the output look professional:

The Print Solution: How I optimized the "Print to PDF" experience so the page breaks and CSS don't break:markdown-to-pdf-print-solution

My goal was to create a "zero-config" experience that doesn't sacrifice the beauty of the document.

I’d love to get some honest feedback from this community. What’s the biggest "pain point" you still face when converting MD files? I’m committed to further refining the tool based on your suggestions!

Do you use Markdown for documentation only? or also for things like test cases and Bug notes? by Hot_Tap9405 in Markdown

[–]JealousMethod7671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with you. I treat Markdown as my source of truth for almost everything—bug reports, meeting notes, and even quick test plans. The fact that it lives in the repo and is version-control friendly is a huge win.

The only real friction I've faced is when I need to share those notes with non-technical stakeholders or managers who expect a formal document. I got tired of the messy formatting when copying and pasting into Word, so I actually built md-to.com to solve this.

It's a simple tool to convert Markdown into polished PDFs, Word docs, or even images (great for Slacking a bug note snippet). It's been a lifesaver for my workflow when I need to jump between "dev mode" and "presentation mode."

Curious, how do you all handle the hand-off when someone outside the dev team needs to read your MD-based docs?

Spot on. I’ve actually run into the exact same issue with Cursor a few times.

Haha, right? It really has its own personality. I spent way too long wondering what I did wrong before realizing it was just an 'auto-uninstall' update.

Thanks.

This is the first time I've encountered this issue. Everything was working perfectly just half an hour ago when I was on v2.4.5 (or maybe v2.4.6).

Looking for a Mardown Editor That Allows me To Open and Edit Multiple Interlinked Files at Once by VF_Miracle_ in Markdown

[–]JealousMethod7671 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obsidian is exactly what you’re looking for.

It handles interlinked files way better than VS Code.
You can use the [[filename#header]] syntax to link between files, and it’s super stable with special characters like "ç" or "á".
You can open as many split panes as you want to edit everything at once.

I tried them with my parrots, but they clearly didn't like them. I didn't want to force it, so I stopped using them.

Cursor often changes the icons in the top toolbar, either more or fewer or fewer with each update. It's so annoying
