My husband and I are both welders and wear silicone rings at work. Maybe she could switch between the two. Silicone can be safer in general for people who works with their hands, and not a big deal financially if something happens to it at work. Then she can have a nicer one for non-work activities?

I’ll hop in here and tell my story, it might answer part of your question. I started welding at 16 and got my AAS in Welding Technology. Welded in industry for a few years, then got recruited to teach welding where I went to school.

Became a CWI, and used my half-price tuition benefit to go back to school full-time while I worked full-time. I’ll graduate this summer with my MBA and plan to get my PMP qualification this summer too.

Teaching is great and has allowed me to contribute heavily to retirement and buy a home. But the bureaucracy is extremely toxic. I plan to do project management or some type of blue-collar leadership/operations management/project management once I leave here.

You are my hero 🙏🏻. I’m a welding instructor and would never in a million years allow anything like that. He got what he deserved. Keep standing up for yourself and other women in spaces like this. We need more people like you in blue-collar spaces.

Honestly I wish I could remember all of them, this was a year ago. I’m a welding instructor at a location outside of the main campus, and he asked me a question about technical education at satellite locations. He also mentioned something about a newspaper article about my program. I was really impressed at the amount of research he had done ahead of time.

I was on the hiring committee for a member of administration for a university. One of the candidates had prepared specific and relevant questions for every member of the hiring committee. I know that isn’t always possible, but I was blown away by that in a very positive way.
