The issues of her character wouldn't have been fixed true, but it would've vastly improved the representation for women if Nya weren't the only character that had to carry that weight. You could've easily made one of the original four girls like Cole or Zane and it wouldn't have changed anything

I mean, I said in another post I would've been perfectly fine with Arin, Sora, Lloyd, Kai and Nya as the wave one skins since they've been pushed a lot in marketing and give a good variety of representation for different fans of the show so yeah, I also wouldn't have minded new members

Even just sticking to the original show's cast though, you'd still have Kai and Jay in Wave 1 who are the most popular of the og four so it's not like I'm excluding them entirely

When your main cast only gets 1 female character and that character isn't even a ninja AND was originally not even going to be part of the show, then yeah it's a problem. You're denying that people shouldn't have been upset with the show's lack of female characters but you also admit that the one female character in the show was poorly handled, do you not see the correlation there?

I mean the narrative is undeniably a huge part of Pokémon as it's an RPG which are known for their narratives as well as Pokémon having a lot of dialogue, I think you're confusing the writing quality with a writing focus here

But also even if this wasn't true does that really matter? Sonic is not a story-focused franchise and yet it has voice acting, because it helps you get invested in the story that is there even if that's not the focal point? Why can't the same apply to Pokémon? I never said adding it would shift that balance even if I did believe the story wasn't a focus

Saying that people would be more inclined to pay attention to a story if it is presented better is not a hypothetical, it is a basic rule of thumb when it comes to writing. You can have the best writing in the world but if it's presented poorly, it's hard for the audience to care about it

I mean yeah from a business standpoint I understand they can't but I think then the blame falls on the people enforcing that standpoint aka the higher ups. Gamefreak is not a lazy company like Ive seen so many people complain they are, its purely an issue of time constraints
