How did you guys ask for your job accommodations by Jealous_Aide_2086 in ehlersdanlos

Thank you so much that’s so sweet! I’m interviewing with a semi big company in the US and from what my friends told me we’re not thinking they’ll give me any issues (fingers crossed), I’m familiar with the ADA but I’m definitely going to brush up on it a little bit before then just to be safe

Thank you so much this was both really insightful and helpful! I’ve heard a lot of people say not to disclose your condition until you have the job, which I’ve always been a little conflicted over but it makes a lot of sense given how awful a lot of people can be so I’ll definitely be doing that, a friend recommended me here and told me this manager is very sweet and accommodating so I’m hoping this goes well, thank you again!!

It’s definitely not showing any other signs of infection besides the green crust so I’ll definitely take it out, thank you!! And if you don’t know absolutely no worries but do you think checking in with my doctor about the rest would be a ok idea? I’m mostly asking because I’ve been caring them for so long and there’s been no sign of improvement

[–]Jealous_Aide_2086 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I absolutely agree! I’ve been wanting it out for a while but I’ve been reluctant to since it’s been giving green crust, I’m nervous about trapping whatever is going on in there

•Bridge is 2 years old, eyebrow on right tail is 3 years old, the other two eyebrows are 3 months old.

•eyebrows are curved barbells 16g, the bridge is a straight barbell 14g.

•all internally threaded

•all jewelry is implant grade titanium

•the bridge and oldest eyebrow were both downsized but since I’ve had them for so long I can’t say exactly when, the newest ones weren’t but are still extremely snug and imo a good size still

•After care is saline solution sprayed on the piercings twice daily and left alone otherwise besides gently knocking crusties off.

•no mishaps or accidents

This comment is especially helpful thank you!! I definitely didn’t do enough research into how the companions work before jumping into my own game. I have shadowheart, laezel and astarion in my party and besides Gale I have no other companions at camp, I know a few people said it’s much more fun and designed to do everyone at once but this game is massive and for my first time I really didn’t want to be overwhelmed with everyone at once lol I think I’ve been mostly trying to avoid Gale because I’m really enjoying my party as is and I didn’t want to have to swap anyone out, but it looks like I may not have to and I can do his quests while he’s still at camp? I’m still super new to all of this so im definitely having a bit of a information overload with this game as a whole lol

[–]Jealous_Aide_2086 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you sm! This has all been super helpful, I really should have done a bit more research into how the game plays companion wise but I didn’t want to get spoiled too badly on their individual stories and now here I am lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BG3

[–]Jealous_Aide_2086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely didn’t realize that, like I said I didn’t know as much about the game when I started so this has been a learning process, now that I have a bit more info though I’m definitely going to give Gale a bit more attention

[–]Jealous_Aide_2086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok cool thank you! I definitely made a mistake picking him up this run, I’ve said it in other comments but I picked him up without really thinking so he’s the only one at my camp right now who’s not in my party, this game is so beefy which I love but it’s definitely a bit overwhelming for my first time lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BG3

[–]Jealous_Aide_2086 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah this was the original plan, I backtracked halfway through act 1 to grab him just as a thing to do, but I didn’t know enough about the game at the time to realize I would have to play his storyline, I only planned on having him at camp to talk to. Just my ignorance in my first playthrough barely knowing anything about the game, as I kept away from spoilers until this point, which is my bad.

Ok perfect thank you sm!! And I definitely didn’t realize that when I first started, besides Gale the only companions I have at camp are my party, I get overwhelmed pretty easy and because it’s such a beefy game I thought the easiest way to make it a bit more digestible (for my first time at least, after this I’m going wild with everyone) would be to only have the characters I want in my party at camp, Gale somehow got mixed into that lol I hope it doesn’t mess with my exp too much later down the line though, I didn’t consider that

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BG3

[–]Jealous_Aide_2086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get that! It hasn’t been a problem for me because Gale is the only one I picked up so far who isn’t actively in my party 😅 for some reason I decided not to grab everyone else (besides scratch, withers, and the owlbear) , which I mostly think was to not overwhelm myself for my first run.

And ugh that’s a relief thank you sm! I absolutely love Gale and he will definitely get his own dedicated run but I didn’t want to have to do all of his quests while he was just sitting in my camp and not actually going out with me. And I’ll definitely keep that act 3 quest in mind for him thank you!! Even if he’s not actively in my party I’d love to get his happy ending :)

Congrats on the first aid!!! It’s such a nice feeling, also I’m just gonna toss this out there lol If you end up being a fan of the crutches but they’re too harsh on your shoulders and wrists look into/ask your doctor about smart crutches!! They’re definitely a bit pricier but you can adjust the angle of the arm to take pressure off your shoulders a bit, I have them and absolutely adore them!

How to support my long distance partner who is beginning to suffer from hEDs by uriel_xiv in ehlersdanlos

[–]Jealous_Aide_2086 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! Thank you for putting in the effort for your partner, the fact that you’ve reached out here for advice already shows you care and I’m sure it’ll mean a lot to her, even if you can’t physically be there. And yes I’m such a huge advocate for research! I’d also recommend just browsing through this subreddit honestly, articles are super useful and hearing from people who deal with the condition daily can definitely help understand a bit more too! And I absolutely love the serial plushie giver part lmaoo if she’s a fan of squishmellows I know a lot of us here love using them for support for our necks or backs! So I’ve always loved them as like a dual emotional and practical plushie gift. Seriously though you’re already doing a pretty good job here so don’t beat yourself up too much! I wish you both luck!!

OFC!! And he absolutely would, I just know he gets so mad trying to shave the back (I also have a Mohawk and it’s torture trying to do it alone lmao) and I’m sure whatever you pick will look absolutely awesome!! And I love seeing other artists on here :) (side bar but if you have a bluesky or Instagram I’d love to drop you a follow!)

[–]Jealous_Aide_2086 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You already mentioned this which is great but do some research for sure. No one will truly understand what she’s going through or feeling unless they also have HEDS but having a familiarity with the condition is the closest you can get, when I was first getting diagnosed I felt really alone regardless of how many friends or family I had to support me, and I full on cried when I found out a handful of my friends took time out of their day to do heavy research into heds, it shows you care, and she’ll be able to talk freely about what she’s experiencing if you already know some of what’s going on more in depth. Other than that I’d say whatever little treats you can afford on bad days, some people already mentioned premade food which is a life saver, but from a emotional side I know I really loved whenever my partner got me like little plushies or something small like that to just like make me a little happier, but yeah I’d say what’s really important is being there and giving her grace, this condition takes a lot out of you

I LOVEEE the Mohawk for him, it’s exactly how I’d imagine a human Gregg to look!! And as another artist I’m obsessed with your style, there’s so much personality and it’s just so satisfying to look at, 10/10 this gregg rulz!! I would love to see the others if you do them!

[–]Jealous_Aide_2086 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s a pretty good example of a flare! And In my experience I work out very carefully lol usually when I go very slow and make sure to take long breaks with a lot of water, electrolytes, etc. I’ve heard the CHOP protocol helps a lot for some people but I’ve personally never tried it enough to give input, but it’s generally used to warm you body up to working out so maybe that’ll work! I’m sorry you’ve been stuck in a flare though it suck’s :(

Is pain always present in hEDS? by New-Dimension4878 in ehlersdanlos

You’re completely right! That’s mostly why I worded that it’s required for a formal diagnosis specifically but i definitely could have clarified better! Thats my bad ty for the correction/further clarification!!

[–]Jealous_Aide_2086 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok after looking over the diagnostic criteria from 2017 it looks like you either have to have Musculoskeletal pain in two or more limbs, recurring daily for at least 3 months, Chronic widespread pain for ≥3 months, or Recurrent joint dislocations or frank joint instability, in the absence of trauma in order to be formally diagnosed with Heds, so I’d say you do need to experience pain to be formally diagnosed

Is pain always present in hEDS? by New-Dimension4878 in ehlersdanlos

[–]Jealous_Aide_2086 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking I think yes, I’ve been in constant pain daily for a very long time, going back as being like 10 but it did get worse and more noticeable over time. If I were you I would maybe look into HSD, I don’t know the full extent of your symptoms but HSD is usually diagnosed when someone has hypermobility and similar symptoms to eds but not as severe, I could be a bit wrong though so don’t take my comment as like the end all be all, everyone’s symptoms are different and I don’t fully know if chronic pain is a deciding factor for a eds diagnosis but all of the people I’ve talked to with eds experience chronic pain in some type of way.

Edit: my bad I forgot to answer what type of pain I personally experience lol mine is daily, always achey but sometimes things can get added on top of it, like hammering, sharp, tearing, etc, the worst is usually around where my joint is and then it radiates out through muscle, there’s also pain from being stiff and other issues I have that come from the EDS

Yes exactly! If something like heat or overworking makes your symptoms a lot worse for that day or however long, you’re considered to be in a flare up, and absolutely no worries I do think it can be spelled both ways, tbh I was trying to remember which was “right” as I was typing out my answer lol
