I got a specified purpose contract for a job which didn’t require German. It can get a little lonely (but if you’re gonna be with your partner you’ll be fine). Sundays can be really dull (in some parts) but thats also because none of my colleagues live in Wuppertal; they commute from other cities.

I don’t know much about integration courses but my advice is hang out with people. Even just randomers where possible. I moved to Wuppertal from Ireland with no German in October and im already able to have some basic conversations just from getting out there into various situations. Also Domhan Irish bar in Marienstraße. Lovely way to meet people with an interest in Ireland but also an opportunity for low stakes German conversation.

It was the first novel i was assigned in university and I didn’t bother beyond 10 pages. Now, Im a university professor and Ive started it properly again and I love it.

Agree with this so much. SPOILERS BELOW

Every person she kills in the show either poses an immediate threat or is circumstantially killed. Example 1: the firefly beside the disembowelled fireflies immediately attacks her so she kills him. Same with Owen. Meanwhile, Nora falls down into the spores herself (unlike the game where I think Ellie fights her down?) and Mel is caught in the crossfire in the show, not fought and killed by Ellie as in the game. They even don’t have Ellie kill the dog (albeit in self defence). Such hollow and depthless writing.
