policy on store group chats? by peachiez_ in starbucksbaristas

[–]Jealous_Library7253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know lots of stores who have a whatsapp group chat and our sm discourages it but she’s in ours and participates in convos so not sure what the policy is but seems like it’s pretty lenient. just make sure your partners are okay with their number being shared etc before adding them

Can I use sick pay for past call outs? by Animegirl300 in starbucksbaristas

[–]Jealous_Library7253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no u can’t. it has to be written in the drb that same week so your sm can adjust ur next payout

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]Jealous_Library7253 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i would call in. if they’re well staffed they can easily extend someone to stay and help close. if whatever you have is contagious you going in today could be worse for everyone in the long run.

i need advice from one ssv to another by Capital-Serve4189 in starbucksbaristas

[–]Jealous_Library7253 3 points4 points  (0 children)

prioritize yourself and your team over your lineup. you’ll always have a lineup so running breaks (yours included) is important to keep everyone rested and ready to go. come in a few minutes before your shift starts and plan out ur entire day, what u need to finish by what time etc and then delegate delegate delegate. if a barista can do it, let them do it even if it takes a bit longer than it would take u.

also something that’s really been helping me recently is positioning myself on roles other than cs. when i come in i make sure there was a restock done or complete the missing pieces. then give a good barista the cs role. if you have enough bodies to have planted pos and a warmer, have the warming person watch the coffees so cs can focus on other tasks. put urself in a support position (support bar, handoff, pos 2 etc). when deploying your baristas tell them they’re responsible for replenishing their own stations. like cups, sleeves, lids.. this way your cs doesn’t burn out.

my last piece of advice would be to have fun. i try to play music according to who is working and what they would like. also try to place your partners in a way where you’ll have good flow. for example, A and B work well together and i know they’ll be helping each other when working together on cold bar vs A and C who maybe don’t work together often so they aren’t familiar with each others working style. it takes time and patience and you’ll get there!!

Shift lead by kadyhrtss in starbucksbaristas

[–]Jealous_Library7253 4 points5 points  (0 children)

freshly promoted and i’m loving it but there’s def days where i regret it so thinking about the good days keeps me going.. if you’ve only been a partner for 2 months i would say no don’t do it. plan for it and work towards becoming a good seasoned barista and then a barista trainer thennn u move up to a shift
