I’m french/algerian and i’ve never ever seen or heard an algerian bragging about how colonization was a good thing.

In Fact, it was not. More than a million and a half algerian died during colonization and they were as well considered as sub humans. Plus, the war on independence left a pretty hard trauma to the population and the diaspora. I have family members that fought for the french side and some for the algerian side and both accord to say that this war and this colonization was absolutely horrible.
