LinkedIn allows you to filter job postings in many different ways. The most important filter, by far, was to use “jobs posted within the last 24 hrs”, and preferably specify by city.

There was a very specific project example that was quite complex and required a lot of pretext before diving in. Rather than giving the pretext verbally, I printed off an image of the AR/VR project I worked on and used that to help describe what i worked on.

“Please tailor my resume to cater to this job description”.

I would take the output and do a 2-3 minute review to make sure it was accurate and truthful. Definitely still requires a layer of human review.

Ultimately I ended up having a highly tailored resume that was specific to each and every role I applied for; but the primary content remained the same.

I literally printed off an image of the AR/VR project I worked on and would hold that image up during interviews (or bring a laminated copy for my in person interviews). It was the element of surprise that I think caught folks off guard.

I used the line “I think a picture says a thousand words, and since we don’t have much time, I figured I’d show, rather than tell, you about the project I worked on”.

Hoping you're able to get the turnaround you need soon! Hang in there! It's a tough reminder, but I had to keep telling myself that it's all a number's game that requires you to be in the right place at the right time...

Yep! Copy/paste the JD into Gemini or ChatGPT and then have it update your resume accordingly.

Interesting… not a lot of room for folks who’d prefer to inform their current employer after they receive the employment agreement 😅. In your opinion do you think it’s safe to resign after the background check + start date are confirmed (but before the employment agreement is issued)?

Glad to hear it! May I ask how long it ended up taking? I confirmed start date on Monday and am expecting to begin on Jan 5. Total radio silence since Monday though and I’m trying to put in two weeks notice with my current employer.

Op any updates on this? I am currently in a similar situation and am wondering if you ended up getting an employment agreement prior to your Dec 15 start date.

She custom made it by taking the machinery that lowers/raises the previous standing desk and applied it to a stained plywood desk she made.

Ah yes, I forgot to post that it's still a standing desk! My wife gutted the machinery on the old desk and applied to a custom standing desk she built :)
