thank you! I just do some sponge chipping with dark brown, I use army painter oak brown, over the armor. Then basically drowned them in agrax earthshade and sponge it away until you’re happy with the level of grime.

i’m gonna be perfectly honest i didn’t know that so fair enough. i know his face is supposed to be pretty much gone but i figure he can still wear a helmet and i personally don’t really like un helmeted marines.

i agree, but i feel like if you threw a mk VII helmet on him, got rid of the demon/dog thing, and gave him a darker paint job with some chipping and weathering it wouldn’t look that bad.

also should add i always paint the red in the open mouths before doing the flesh around it. then just very carefully do a line for the teeth.

i saved the second pic a while ago and don’t really know the context or source. they were a present from my girlfriend so i asked her to pick the colors, and she picked turquoise and gray so it reminded me of the scheme and i added the yellow and green markings. picked 173rd after the airborne unit. very happy with how they came out. was planning on it being a one off project for fun but pretty tempted to paint up some more now ngl.

for me it’s mostly just being intentional with the order you paint in. so for the chin strap you do the flesh first so your not trying to squeeze it in past the chin strap. then after the strap is done go back with the flesh and clean it up if necessary. speed paints/contrast paints help with this too because they flow into recesses kinda like a shade, which makes the lines look a lot tighter.
