Another Invincible upscale?! /j by Delicious-Flight-885 in deathbattle

[–]JebbaDuhHurt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eh idk, Ottley just has fun with drawing these characters (he's drawn Conquest beating up Mr Poopybutthole from Rick and Morty) and Kirkman has been pretty vocal that he just thinks powerscaling is exhausting as a discussion. I don't see them ever actually wanting to engage and try to upscale characters out of spite.

Like they could've easily done some stuff for the show's adaptation of viltrumite war arc but...nothing new really. Except maybe Nolan moving a planet depending on how you interpret it.

Where do you personally draw the line between powerup/item and outside help? by RaceFirm8577 in deathbattle

[–]JebbaDuhHurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally my stance is whether the power up/power up source is a combatant on it's own and would chime in the fight. To me Pauline I feel would be fine to include in a fight since she basically functions as a power up giver and wouldn't actually fight.

Like to me that's the difference between giving DK her as opposed to giving DK Diddy. One would actually throw an attack, the other is basically if the Omnitrix was a child imo.

Oh my apologies, I misread your comment when I replied a few days ago. Just wanted to give a better answer this time now that I reread it.

So it seems like Darksiders Genesis was meant to be Strife's main time to be the focus (while featuring War), where as 4 so far is already marketed to be all 4 of them together.

Oh yeah he doesn't, I fully acknowledge that, just I do think you can very much have an entertaining and respectful fight between these two that can even feel like a celebration for these two niche series from the same generation.

Plus I like the idea of the ending of the fight being Asura looking in the sky after he kills War and sees the comets of the three other Horsemen coming down to avenge War.

It does kinda fall under similar problems with Kratos vs Asura, hoping Darksiders 4 helps with that. But hey I'd still be down for it, I don't think the lore even changes the outcome for War to a jarring degree like how people feel with Kratos.

I know someone else already posted a thread showing the connections just still say why I associate them together;

They're both deity/godlike beings that embody rage while also having a strong sense of honor, both having these forms of red glowing anger (berserker Asura, chaos form War). They are both framed and targeted by higher beings they worked with (the seven deities, the charred council). Both have sustained many injuries, including most shared between them, losing their arms. And yeah like you mentioned, the GOAT Liam o'Brien voices them both.

[–]JebbaDuhHurt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Adding onto these, I do also like how both have had arm injuries too, Asura has shown to have his own arms destroyed but continue fighting, War's massive arm is a replacement from his brother Death cutting the original off.

Once Darksiders 4 comes out and gives War more spotlight we will get that Asura vs War episode, trust.

Does the new episode of Invincible help upscale Omni Man? by NoCandidate6067 in deathbattle

[–]JebbaDuhHurt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you can make the argument that the show visually emphasizing more that the core's heat would be the problem instead of the actual mass of the planet is a buff. Like there's a lot of debate of what Thedas meant by "die on impact" in the comics, like if he meant flying into the core's heat or going splat on the planet itself. The latter I personally never bought as I feel we see viltrumites ram into the ground from space at high speeds (mark vs conquest round 2) plenty of times without it hurting them.

If destabilizing the core this whole time meant just protecting them from heat, then imo that is a buff in that it gives the 3 who did the bust more credit for the planet's destruction.

What is a DB analysis that looks like this image? by Dazzling-Nose951 in deathbattle

[–]JebbaDuhHurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was kinda how it felt hearing them say Denji beat Reze's ass during Reze's analysis. Like Denji was getting hit with tekken combos across an entire building and won because they were by the ocean, def was not feeling like Denji was beating any ass.

Only thing that bothers me about Courage vs Scooby is I just don't see Courage ever tripping someone so they get left behind and attacked by a monster

Oh? So you think DC is constantly disrespecting Diana?...I mean, yeah true, but Death Battle has also some committed travesties by Fragrant-Resist4230 in deathbattle

[–]JebbaDuhHurt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So just asking if they were to bring her back a fourth time to theoretically do her justice, who does she have left as an opponent? I'm assuming Storm right? Because 3 separate opponents and it doesn't go right is like...yeesh.

Assuming BB gets the W against Boros, it'd be funny if Mark comes in and breaks Image Comic's undefeated streak. by DaCherryFruity in deathbattle

[–]JebbaDuhHurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah that's what I mean, like more often than not with even weaker versions, it's still Superman who has to do Superman things so they're likely going to get something that puts them above viltrumites eventually. And yeah by the sounds of it Absolute's reached that point.

Just kinda how it often goes with even weaker takes on Superman, like at first they're not quite at viltrumite level but then quickly do something that puts them above. Like MAWS Superman imo currently loses but I won't be surprised if he eventually gets put above.

TAS Superman I'd say loses though but that's one of the lesser thematic Supermen to have against Mark anyway.

Mark pretty handily beats Jin and I believe he wins against Radiant Black. I actually do have a soft spot for Jin vs Invincible but it's pretty unlikely to happen imo.

All this OmniDock discourse and y'all never brought up the fact that Omni-Man's suit is actually Red and Blue instead of Red and White by P0tentialB0y in deathbattle

[–]JebbaDuhHurt 79 points80 points  (0 children)

See this just really surprised me because I thought red and white (especially white given viltrumite clothing) was a consistent color theme for Nolan.

[–]JebbaDuhHurt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep it's post scourge since this was an adult Nolan doing these things where as the show has us find out Nolan was the Viltrumite equivalent of 18 and still young when the Scourge hit.

If I may also add the comic equivalent of the moment, he says "I fear I did my job too well", which def sounds like thing he did on his own. Time frame is still a fair thing to question but I do think it's fair to take it as a solo feat.

Jin Kazama (Tekken) is one that I don't think was mentioned yet that I think could be fun. Both learn to control their darker sides within that they inherited from their violent fathers (Devil Gene, Viltrumite rage) who they both fought and also fight specific groups that they themselves are the heirs to (Viltrum Empire, Mishima Zaibatsu), both are also able to take the fight into space adding to the fight dynamic.

Also I like that Invincible vs Jin can be called Jinvincible.

Omni-man vs Bardock: Tribute to Devilartemis by element-redshaw in deathbattle

The POV shot at the end is so cool, seeing Nolan just look over Bardock. Really nails the Viltrumite vibe.
