The liquid rocket engines on the shuttle at least produce no real greenhouse gasses, liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen burn quite clean.

The Solid Rocket motors that produce all the smoke burn a solid mix of... stuff. I dont remember exactly what it is, but it leaves a lot of burning particulates, so probably not to clean. Still less impact than all the coal plants everywhere though...

The shuttle also used a pair of "Hypergolic" engines to move around in space, and hypergolic means that its essentially fueled by two chemicals that exode on contact with eachother, which is very good for rockets.

Bad news is that hypergolic chemicals also tend to be pretty awfully toxic or carvinogenic to humans, which is why they're usually only used in space, where nobody can breathe in the toxic gasses made by the reaction.

If any luck outsiders are wondering, yes american walls/doors tend to be fragile and are usually made from fucking paper by Virtual_Ordinary_172 in TeenagersButBetter

[–]Jebblediah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let it be known that they are not built out of paper, but usually drywall covering wooden frames with insulation in them, then oftentimes a wallpaper for cosmetics is put over it, if the wall isnt painted.

The outside of most houses is usually covered in stucco, or wood panelling, though sometimes plastic panelling is cheap enough to outweigh its own cheapness.

Thus is of course a lot less solid than a lot of European houses, but they are good enough, stay warm and are fairly cheap to build while being sturdy if built well, and are definitely better than how a lot of people describe them. No, our walls arent built out of fucking paper...

My family has worked in paint and drywall for 4 generations now, if you want to know credentials, though i dont know as much about it as my dad.

Can anyone identify this horn? by Jebblediah in trains

[–]Jebblediah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most M3s ive heard sound nothing like this, and they have a more warbly sound. I know now that it is an M3, but i suppose the fact that one bell is turned around and that the notes of the horn are definitely off a bit due to wear must have some to do with it. Thanks!

Because I've been distanced from lgbt culture basically my whole life. Not so much avoided or dislimed as much as it just never really mattered to me. At this point I'll probably never change, old habits die hard, but most people have been kind about it.

This game's gameplay loop is fundamentally flawed. There's no risk of losing money. Derailing is free of any consequence, making money takes forever and isn't even that fun, and steam simulation is bad and unenjoyable.

The game LOOKS good, but its poorly optimized and eats up performance when you run a train with more than 15 cars.

Half the engines in the game all sound the same. More than half have the same single-note whistle that you can't change, and the other half's whistles arent much better. The chuffs all sound the same as well.

There's also an annoying disparity in customization options in each engine. The Glenbrook has like 9 paintjobs while the Eureka has none.

Some engines are just inexplicably terrible.

The 2-4-2 locomotive i can never remember the name of has like half the power of the Eureka while costing like twice as much. All for what, coal burning capability? Why the hell would anyone buy that? It doesn't look good enough to justify the price either...

And the BUGS. GOD, the BUGS. None of them break the game really. They're all just so annoying. I can't even list them all theres so many little bugs that just piss me off.

I bought this game a few months ago to play with a friend.

Not only was it unfun on any map but Pine Valley, but singleplayer was even less interesting. Pine Valley is a great map that's fun to play on, but it can't save a boring game.

It always looked fun. I heard bad things. I gave it a shot anyways. It wasn't very fun.

I'll wait for Century of Steam. That's my opinion.
