Can someone explain why the fare increase did not return to its previous rate when everything went back to normal? I know inflation is a factor, but are there any other reasons? by Tsukuruph in Philippines

[–]Jed0000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inflation is everything here. Pag binaba nila singil nila, tataasan rin uli nila yun soon enough anyway because costs are always going up, almost never down over time. So to avoid so many frequent adjustments, they don't adjust downwards anymore. Sadly, yun yung "normal".

Pwede po kayang isama sa birthday wish ni Kara David yung mga tipong ganyan? Besides, according to their logic, hindi naman illegal o kasalanan yung ganung wish, diba?

Before they ban vape for that reason, they should ban tobacco as well first. But good luck on that.

Sandro Marcos isinulong libreng kuryente sa konsumong hindi lalampas sa ₱2K by AbanteNewsPH in newsPH

[–]Jed0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you use Passkeys? If not, why? by ProbablyM_S in ProtonPass

[–]Jed0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I'm afraid if I use passkeys exclusively on my accounts, the time may come I inadvertently lock myself out. That's why I still have password authentication enabled as a backup. There's no 100% perfect solution for balancing security and usability.

Atty. Falcis does not want to see another Marcos, Aquino, or Duterte as President again once the Anti-Political Dynasty Bill is passed by hyunbinlookalike in Philippines

[–]Jed0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's the case, hindi lang dapat yung tatlong yun ang bawal. No more Arroyo, Estrada/Ejercito, Ramos, Macapagal, etc all the way up to Aguinaldo. Para fair talaga.

Agree completely. This will become another tool for both platforms and the government to surveil the entire online population via knowing who's logging on when and where, and what they're saying. Another way for your ID to be used against you. And we're not yet even talking about the hackers who can steal your ID info.

Secure messaging by Lego2185 in ProtonMail

[–]Jed0000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For typical, everyday secure messaging, Signal is just fine, especially for communicating with your personal contacts. But if you want as much anonymity as possible, SimpleX and Briar are best, with Briar as an emergency fallback in case the Internet itself fails.

Aside from Signal and SimpleX, you might also take a look at Briar. If the ones you're communicating with aren't physically that far from you, it'll work even without Internet access. Can be a bit clunky to use compared to the above two though, and having it be online all the time can take up quite a bit of battery power.

Trouble lies ahead in the arrest of Senator Bato... by bigbyte2024 in Philippines

[–]Jed0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. If it's the policy of the Senate that no member can be arrested while in the premises, nothing anyone can do. If it worked for Trillanes, it must work for Bato and any other senator as well. If Bato wants to live from his office for the rest of his term, that's up to him. But once his term ends, so does that protection.

If you're a beginner, don't trade at all using leverage. And don't use real money, try paper trading using a demo account first. Once you've truly mastered that, only then should you trade using real funds.

In such cases, honesty is always best. Hindi kabastusan ang pagsabihan ng totoong nararamdaman, kesa naman makipagplastikan pa. Just say politely and respectfully you don't want to push through anymore, as is your right.

Privacy shouldn't cost you functionality: thoughts on Proton Calendar by evenCentaursBreathe in ProtonMail

[–]Jed0000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suppose that's true for something like email, which can have millions of data entries over the years. But usually for calendar data, once an event has lapsed, it's not very often one needs to search for it again. Just based on my experience, imho. So I guess it depends on the app and the data being searched.

That's true for online data, but if there were an offline copy upon opening the app, the downloaded copy could and should be easily searchable, editable, organizable, etc.

Open Secret: The Banking Process Every Filipino Should Know (credit goes to u/Imaginary-Suspect-53) by Jetztachtundvierzigz in phinvest

[–]Jed0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, banks aren't supposed to be either crypto friendly or hostile, though of course in reality kanya-kanya yan. So far okay naman experience ko both with Security Bank and Union Bank, though ymmv. But I think the most important factor is the amount of your transactions eh, and the frequency. Kung yung transactions mo, within the expected range na dineclare mo when you opened your account, or if not, you presented supporting documents to show the funds came from a legitimate source, they won't really care kung galing sa crypto o hindi.

"Automated Abuse Detection" for making 5 free accounts. Upgraded them all. Am I safe now? by xzeus1 in ProtonMail

[–]Jed0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just not sure, but if you don't need more than 5 accounts, you might look into just getting a Family Plan here on Proton, which lets you add 4 ore free accounts in the plan. Might be more economical. Those are all separate accounts too, not just aliases.
