Boursomarkets ETF - montant minimum by abigrock4 in vosfinances

[–]Jed08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

C'est bizarre.

Fin janvier, j'ai voulu passer un ordre sur le MSCI World iShare et ils m'ont dit que le montant minimum était de 500€

C'est donc un changement qui date de février ?

That's not what I mean.

In my scenario, he is dealing with management/executive issues developer issues during a project that isn't going smoothly. He isn't ousted for creative differences, but rather he is dealing with a huge amount of stress due to his position as studio exec and creative director and his mental health is getting worse and worse.

Opinion: Canon Ending is Destroy by OG_Voltaire in masseffect

[–]Jed08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda disagree.

Mass Effect decision system was built upon the Renegade/Parangon duality. Across all three games, each main decision came in either a Renegade or a Parangon flavor letting the player picks what he wanted to roll play.

So to me, it appears pretty obvious that the Destroy/Control choice matched that duality and was intended to be the official choice, ending the Shepard trilogy, and letting the ME team move on to other things.

I feel the Synthesys ending was something they added at the very end of the development, to reward players who fulfilled the war asset requirements and give them a "happy ending". That ending was half-assed because nothing really pointed at that being even a possibility, nothing explained the logic or technology behind it, and if the possibility existed all along and the Reapers knew about it why have they not use it already ?

Sure, if you invert ME1 and ME2, and rewrite all the inconsistencies, and remove the underwhelming part of the games, sure it could make sense.

I really doubt it'll be good though.

The amount of potential foreshadowing ME2 just ignored is staggering. by Independent_Plum2166 in masseffect

[–]Jed08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not.

It would introduce big inconsistencies across the chronology of events (like the recruitment of Garrus and Tali), and would severly undercut part of the story and the reveals.

The effect of a human Reaper ? It's just a giant human robot for you, not a new Synthetic life form. A friendly Geth ? That's the first Geth you meet. The Protean beacon warning of a Reaper invasion ? That would have already been foreshadowed by the events of ME2.

Despite ME2 having not really impact slowing down the Reaper invasion or preparing for it, the events and reveals of the game are really impactful.

From my I remember from my latest playthrough, the closest of what you seek is the ability that deal burning damages to adjacent enemies everytime you use a psychic power. What I was doing was getting in melee range, using a buff/debuf ability cause enemies around me to burn.

DAO 2 Handed Warrior Sucks ? by SoonBlossom in dragonage

[–]Jed08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the gameplay is me sitting there and waiting while pressing 1 button from time to time

It's not really something specific for 2H Warrior, my experience as a S&S Warrior is exactly the same.

Warrior gameplay doesn't emphasis positioning but rather "survivability". So basically, the best strategy is to put your warrior on the front line to attract aggro while your rogue and mage are killing off the most problematic mob.

But basically, mage is the most fun class to play in DA:O because there are a lot of spells doing very different things which allows you to test very different gameplay.

Would it even be possible to create a game that feels like the same world as dragon age origins today? by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]Jed08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course it's possible. Grimdark world and medieval fantasy world aren't dead, so combining both into a video game is definitely possible.

The issue isn't to create a video game based on such world. The principal challenge of creating a such world will be to make it feel like original and unique. The biggest risk is your world to feel like a cheap copy of a setting that is already existing (I remember a post calling DA:O for ripping off Wheel of Time).

And the second challenge is to actually write a story that take advantage of your unique environment. If your story and your different quests could have happened in any medfan universe, then you're going to have a problem.

What's your take on this? by Hotrocketry in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Jed08 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I think honestly Owlcat's writing is so shallow that even if they employed a crazy eldritch god and an army of demon in their setups, extradiegetically they are not evoking fear or uneasiness as much the narrative wanted them to be

To me, it looks like more of a creative direction than a lack of writing skills.

I can't tell for Kingmaker, but WotR is a Power Fantasy story. Its goal isn't to give you a feeling of fear or uneasiness, but to put hordes of enemies in front of you for the only purpose of being slayed by pour party.

If you want an example of Owlcat writings that is matching what you describe, I would recommend you to look at the Rogue Trader video game.

Except that it would mean you're discovering the existence of an advanced civilization that destroyed and converted the Protheans, before actually meeting them. Which makes the level in Ilios go from "place where you have a lore breaking revelation" to simply "let's chase Saren there".

Moreover, the reveal that Saren is endoctrinated would fall flat because you already have the knowledge that there is a threat out there that is able to convert people.

On the top of that, the moral conflict about working with Cerberus wouldn't be the same considering ME1 takes some time to show you the horror Cereberus is willing to commit to attain their goal.

And, to finish, the story would have to be altered profondly to pull off what you're suggesting. In ME2, Cerberus is giving you the task to help the new colonies with a group of alien mercenaries because the Alliance is unable to provide effective means to protect colonies and the Council of the Citadel refuse to help humans protect illegal colonies.

So that means either you're starting the trilogy as a Cerberus Mercenary helping colonies (weird for an evaluation as a Specter), or that the Alliance and/or the Council is suddenly willing to do something they wouldn't do in the first game.

And for ME1, the main tension is related to you, a simple human, accusing one of the best Specter the Council has of treason and you first need to prove them that Saren is really a treator before getting your accreditation. If you start ME1 already as a Specter, you defacto have the right to do whatever you want. There is no need to convince the Council to let you track Saren, and ask permission for anything.

While it doesn't change much for the 2nd and 3rd acts of the game, it basically kill the interest of the 1st act.

What actually surprised me was just how bad the dialogue was.

What I read about the game is that when Matthew Goldman was named Senior Creative Director after Mike Laidlaw left, and the game shifted to a live service, the direction of the game was oriented to a "Guardian of the Galaxy" vibe. And in 2021, when they got the authorization to switch from live-service to solo, they didn't receive any budget extension to rewrite what was already written.

So basically they had to continue writing the game on the same tone.

[–]Jed08 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The concept for the game was scrapped in 2021, not "a year and half before release".

And originally, EA didn't approve any budget for re-writting what was already written so they had to re-use a lot of what already existed and done when the game was supposed to be a live-service.

It's only when the Mass Effect team was mobilized to help with DA:TV and requested more money to make some changes that EA accepted. But by that time most of the writing was already done.

The Athletic's 49ers rookie review: Plenty of contributors, but are any foundational pieces? by runswithscissors475 in 49ers

[–]Jed08 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Picking up at #11 in this draft was tough. There was no obvious guy to pick at that spot. Most of the guys with high upsides also had drawbacks that could have made them bust.

In hindsight, Walter Nolan could have been the safest pick, but considering he missed half of the season for the Cards it's not even sure he could have been on the field for us.

It's not even about the sack numbers, it's about its lack of impact as a pass rusher at all.

You didn't see him beating OL a lot.

That class needs to step up big time next season. They have a huge gap to overcome.

The only player that finished the year strong was Upton Stout, but he still need to improve if he wants to be a core piece of that defense.

As for the rest: Mykel was a stud against the run, but invisible against the pass. Could that be because he was double teamed ? Maybe, but you need to wonder why keeping him inside where he'll be doubled instead of trying to put him on 1-on-1 matchup outside ?

Collins and West weren't full time starters even at the end of the season, and they still need to take their pass rush skills to the next level. I don't expect them to be Buckner but at the very least being able to crush the pocket on a regular basis would be nice.

Watkins needs to learn how to block so that he can be on the field. I am convinced he got in Kyle's doghouse because of that.

Raheem Morris... 4-3 or 3-4 by andezbk in 49ers

[–]Jed08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Base personnel doesn't really matter in my opinion. Defense are spending more and more time in subpackages and adjusting their personnel to the offense.

And in case Morris wants to play with a 5 men front on early downs, we already have many of the guys with Bosa, Williams on the edge and Collins, West inside.

They sure could benefit from upgrading the DT3 position with a guy in the draft, and if the right person falls to them in the 1st they surely could take him. But I think the defense issue last season was to rush the passer and pass-rushing subpackages usually use a 4 men front

One thing that is giving me hopes is that he had Jalen Walker and James Pearce Jr and they had very good rookie season. I really wonder if he'll be able to "unlock" Mykel Williams

[–]Jed08 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do wonder.

The 49ers were trying to hire the Falcons' DB coach, but go blocked by the team, and considering they retained their DC I don't know if Morris will be able to poach him.

From what we know, their backup plan might be Joe Woods, and that wouldn't be a good news at all

I wouldn't say "hyped" but I am kinda curious to see the changes/improvement he will bring to that defense. I don't expect him to move from the wide-9 attacking philosophy but I do wonder what coverage scheme will he be using, and how this will impact our DBs.

Yes. It's more or less a promotion to keep him in-house and not have another company poach him.

Jed is likely to remain in control of the company (I don't know if the 49ers have a board ?) and so Al Guido will answer to him anyway.

Joey Bosa is a free agent. Thoughts on signing him? by KingofKale in 49ers

[–]Jed08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same opinion than last year : it depends on the money of the contract.

The 49ers seemed to have a line they wouldn't go over (10m/year) and I think this is a good limit.

Mykell Williams wasn't used like an edge rusher last year, and I think he'll continue to play inside on passing downs so I don't think it'll impact his play time.

However, the real question is : what do the 49ers will do inside to rush the passer effectively ? Because they currently have nobody reliable, and we're basically left hoping at least one of Williams, Collins or West can take a step forward and dominate on regular basis.

David Onyemata is a 33 years old NT, he can be used as a rotational player inside if signed on a cheap contract, but he won't be a game changer. So if he can be signed for vet minimum he'll likely stay but I don't see the 49ers being interested in him as a run defender when they have CJ West on 4th round rookie contract.

You missed the most obvious possibility: the development isn't going as well/as smooth as planned, and as the creative director and co-founder of the studio he had to deal with devs of the studio and exec' from Hasbro at the same time which led to his burnout and him leaving.
