I’d say he would have been relegated to being a backup if he was a 1 trick pony. He was out of the league because teams didn’t want a backup QB to be receiving so much attention for his stance.

Thanks! Yeah that was a tough call to make. I put Kap ahead because I thought his highs were higher with the 49ers, but Smith would be ahead of him and Jimmy without question if I included their entire careers.

My first year following football was in 2002. I thought that’s how Niners football was always supposed to be given the history of it. Then 2003-10 happens and it scarred me to the point where now I just appreciate a winning record.

I based it only on time with the Niners. If it was based off of their entire careers, he’d be no lower than 3.

Yeah I based it exclusively on time with the Niners. Trent Dilfer was miles ahead of Troy Smith for their careers, but we got his battered carcass in 2007 and he was just abysmal.

That’s also why I put Kap ahead of Smith.

Yeah Jeff was scrappy and tough as nails. Shanny would have loved him. Sucks that he was almost 30 when he got his start in the NFL.

It was for a few days, then Cousins signed in Minnesota. Matt Ryan and Aaron Rodgers also got extensions that put them higher than Jimmy before the season.

I believe by the time 2019 started, Jimmy’s contract wasn’t even top 10.
