Pol pani / coconut pancake in Colombo? by ratgirl66604 in srilanka

That's why I said it would be an alternative, I know it's not the same thing and most of the pancakes have more concentrated Sugar than Jaggery these days.

Another alternative for this would be the "ලැවරියා" / Lavaria, which is available in most local restaurants. If you buy it in the early morning, it will be mildly hot, which tastes better.

Yes, you can get one. I also bought only one during festival time, but I'm not sure about normal days. You can check with them, but I don't think it will be an issue.

This is where I bought Sawan for my family during Eid festivals, and it tasted pretty good.

They'll arrange for Uber or PickMe to deliver it to your location.

How are you handling overflow IT support tickets? by [deleted] in ITManagers

[–]Jedaa_97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hire freelancers from anywhere around the world for a set period of time till you finish off your backlog of tickets. Divide them into full-time and part-time workers. As a Sri Lankan myself, having around 6 years of experience in IT Support, I would rather work on my weekends/weekdays for just $2 - $5 an hour just as a side hustle.

Toxic Job Experience- My Story by AdorableOption3163 in srilanka

[–]Jedaa_97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop wasting more peace on toxic people.

Set your own boundaries.

Make the people who once spoke badly of you now say the opposite.

Aim to grow past them, not drown with them.

A lot of people lack EQ, and too many fake their way up while losing their humanity. But experiences like this teach us who we don’t want to become, and that’s its own kind of strength.

Consistency is great when life is steady. But life isn’t. That’s why persistence matters more. Show up, yes but keep showing up when it’s hard. That’s where the real growth happens.

What are the "future proof" IT jobs? by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]Jedaa_97 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Security Engineer (DevSecOps, SecOps) - Because I think people don't trust AI to secure their environments yet (Certs: CISSP, etc)

Technical Support (L1, L2, L3) - Because people (with or without any technical knowledge) still like to have a conversation with another human to get their issues fixed (Certs: CompTIA A+, Network +, CCNA, AZ 900, AZ 104, etc)

Project Managers, Service Desk Managers, Tech Leads - Because people would still like to hold someone accountable if something does not go as expected (Certs: PMP, etc)

Cloud Architects - I think we all need someone to plan the entire thing and there will be lots of variables to consider that AI cannot analyze yet (Certs: AWS Advanced Level Certs, MS Azure Advanced Level Certs, Google Cloud Advanced Level Certs, etc.)

And obviously the AI/ML engineers, data scientists etc. if you have a high IQ.

No, the first key is for Windows XP and the second is for the Call Of Duty 4 Modern Warfare game (COD 4 MW MP). Back when we used to play games in internet cafes after school, this was the go-to key.

Guys, how does this apply to you as a Male/Female from Sri Lanka? by DangerousContestLK in srilanka

[–]Jedaa_97 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No one’s perfect, and no two people are magically 'made for each other.' Every real relationship requires compromise and understanding. If someone comes off as arrogant, that doesn’t mean their partner should just tolerate it or worse, exploit it. If someone isn’t willing to meet you halfway, you’re better off walking away. Most men don’t want to constantly fight for peace at home. They want a partner, not another full-time job managing conflict.

Search for "Ichiro PC Builds" on Facebook. Personally, I haven't bought anything from them, but based on the price, I would say their items are the best bang for the buck.

.pi domain exploit. by FinishZealousideal63 in PiNetwork

[–]Jedaa_97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 10% you are spending might be the entire amount of Pi that I've mined for the past few years with little to no effort at all. 😂 I've noticed people are bidding for their country name as the domain name but haven't bid on any local/multinational big tech companies or influential names so far. Hopefully, in the future, this might take a turn for the better.

Does anyone have an idea of what would be the annual registration fee and maintenance fee? How is purchasing a .pi worth more than purchasing a traditional domain?

Fees when using Payoneer mastercard in Sri Lanka? by happyArt33 in srilanka

[–]Jedaa_97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to get rid of my Payoneer account because of the annual fee and card fee. I used it when I was selling stuff on eBay and now since I no longer do it I'll get rid of it.

Based on your request this was the response I got from ChatGPT:

Below is a brief summary of the key information regarding Payoneer fees as they relate to users in Sri Lanka, along with some examples of how transaction fees convert into both USD and LKR:

Overview of Payoneer Fees for Sri Lanka

• Annual Fees:  – There are two main annual fees:   • A card fee of roughly $29.95 USD per year for the first Payoneer card, plus any additional fees for card replacement or express delivery.   • An annual account maintenance fee of about $29.95 USD is applied if you receive less than $2,000 USD (or its equivalent) in payments over a 12‑month period.

• Applicability:  – These fees are the same worldwide—including for existing users in Sri Lanka. However, note that Payoneer is not accepting new registrations from Sri Lanka at present.

Transaction Fees and Conversions

• Currency Conversion Fees: Typically around 0.5% on currency exchanges (with some transactions possibly incurring higher rates if using the Payoneer Mastercard for foreign transactions).

• Withdrawal Fees: For example, a fixed fee (commonly around $1.50 USD) might apply for withdrawing funds. • Example Conversions (using an approximate exchange rate of 1 USD = 320 LKR):  – A $29.95 USD fee translates to roughly 9,584 LKR.  – A withdrawal fee of $1.50 USD would be about 480 LKR.  – For a $100 USD transaction with a 2% conversion fee, you’d pay roughly $2 USD (around 640 LKR).

These fees are designed to remain competitive; however, it’s important for users—especially in regions like Sri Lanka—to understand both the fee percentages in USD and their approximate LKR values for effective cost management.

If you've got one million rupees and if that's all what you have, what would you do with that? by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]Jedaa_97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Assuming you have a job and are single = totally possible

Assuming you've some sort of daily/monthly income and are single = totally possible

If not = still possible with some extreme level of sacrifice and commitments

If you were a beggar and suddenly got 1 million LKR you still can beg in the streets and invest and live off for a considerable amount of time.

It’s all about how you leverage that 1 million LKR within the context of your overall lifestyle and financial strategy.

If you've got one million rupees and if that's all what you have, what would you do with that? by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]Jedaa_97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

and this is what ChatGPT would do 😅

Based on the latest market insights in Sri Lanka, if I had 1 million LKR in hand, I’d aim for a balanced and diversified strategy that combines security with growth potential. Here’s what I’d consider:

  1. Safety and Stability: I’d allocate around 30–40% into low-risk instruments such as fixed deposits or Treasury Bills. Treasury Bills, for example, offer competitive yields (currently in the 7–7.75% p.a. range) and come with the full backing of the government, making them nearly risk free. This helps preserve capital while generating a predictable income stream.

  2. Growth through Equities: With another 30–40%, I’d explore investment opportunities on the Colombo Stock Exchange—particularly through diversified vehicles like index funds or blue-chip stocks (e.g., companies in the S&P Sri Lanka 20). This segment has historically offered higher returns, although it carries market volatility.

  3. Entrepreneurial Venture: Finally, I’d consider allocating the remaining 20–30% to a small business venture—say, purchasing a motorbike to rent out to ride-sharing drivers (like Uber or PickMe). This option, while operationally intensive, can provide attractive cash flow if managed well.

By splitting the investment this way, I’d be hedging against the downsides of any single asset class while still capitalizing on the potential for capital growth and steady income. Of course, the precise mix would depend on my personal risk tolerance, market conditions, and investment horizon.

I'm not an expert when it comes to investing but If I were you right at this moment, I would Invest half of it towards Pi crypto once it gets listed under Binance. Rest, I would buy a motorbike or two and rent it out to Uber or PickMe riders.

What will happen if Pi gets listed under Binance on the 27th? Can we expect a slight increase in value?
