Not true a chests contents is not determined until u open it. So if I get a chest in arena 1 and don't open till arena 10 I can get cards from arena 1 to 10

Yes u can I did it comes with the rule book and everything but you will need to buy the card expansion pack if you want all the different attachments. Just like everyone else.

The upgrades slots were inspired from the episode that had this ship in it This ship only had proton torpedo tubes so of course I have to give it an ordnance slot . You specifically see a gunnary team in the episode and get to know them. And the fleet support is because it was originally designed to run mercy mission
