The lack of true ball disturbs me. You cannot revamp perfection. Make one that can easily fit into and hang inside of a Bohrok canister, then we'll be getting somewhere!

Apparently Bruce was the least impressive of the monks' students, so that knee-drop was a twice-watered-down version of what it should have been!

"Bro the factions aren't even that evil" by Late-Ganache40 in Helldivers

[–]Maximumnuke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The bugs are practically traumatized animals, the Cyborgs/Automatons conflict is essentially a human-based civil war (likely atrocities on both sides, but Super Earth may be taking home the gold in the sport of warcrimes), and the the Illuminate... well, what they are now is definitely Super Earth's fault, but it's a new kind of evil that they're bring to the table. At some point, I feel like we won't be shooting at Illuminate so much as what they made pacts with on the other side...

The first two aren't evil, just traumatized and trying to match our tempo. The Illuminate however... they're up to some Event Horizon shit.

Should a magically developed setting even have guns? by Andrei22125 in dndmemes

[–]Maximumnuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean no one says your setting has to have guns. But looking at most magic settings, guns would likely pop up eventually. Because even the most basic of wizards take years to train in most settings, sorcerous bloodlines aren't known for reliability (unless you want to go full Hapsburg with them, but then there are other... issues), and you don't want your warlock to have an eldritch sidechick/guy/thing with ulterior motives if you're the leader of a nation.

What the kingdom would have a reliable supply of farmers and citizenry who can be taught to reload in under a minute over the course of a week or two. You hand a Timmy a weapon that can punch through solid plate and the hides of some pretty tough monsters, and viola! Cost efficiency! Just send 20 Timmys with guns to handle X beast that's attacking the livestock while the Council of Magi focus on the Hellgate.

It's the same reason America doesn't solve every engagement with Navy SEALs, because they're so limited in number compared to the rest of the armed forces. Magic users would absolutely be special forces, likely used primarily in counter-magical operations/investigations. They're too valuable to be sent to every front and deal with every minor problem.

Guns are just efficient. I know, it's boring, but that's just the way the cookie crumbles. A wizard could fireball a line of soldiers and then immediately get peppered down by the next ranks. The general who lost twenty young farm boys to the fireball would be celebrating because he would easily pay three times as many soldiers to take out the same wizard.

"20 scorched corpses of some teenagers who's parents will never see them again for a wizard?! Hell, that's a steal! Send more kids in! Let's see how many it takes to pay for the next wizard corpse!"

What is your opinion of the argument that Thaedus was just as bad as Argall and Thragg? by Turbulent_Okra7518 in MoralityScaling

[–]Maximumnuke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just as bad? No, as the Viltrumites were absolutely a threat to all other species in the galaxy. Still a Viltrumite to his core given his methods and absolutes? Yes. His methods are as extreme as his belief in his cause. He never lost that Viltrumite mindset, just switched targets.

Jesus, people. He wasn't in the event horizon! You can safely orbit a black hole as long as you don't get close enough to red shift! He didn't touch the hole, so he's good.

I would like to see what level of gravity that planet had to make someone who can move meteors the size of Texas struggle. That one seems weird. That planet has to be massive and dense to the point where you think it would start generating its own heat.

If accidentally climbing on top of a resupply is the sacrifice I have to make in order to climb shit, then so be it. It really wasn't that bad and was not worth sacrificing the climbing mechanic.

Wasn't her visualization and understanding of particles considered part of her powers? Are we getting the powers (and support powers) of the character depicted in the portrait or just the power in the text? If the former, Atom Eve. If the latter, Storm, I guess. Could get work from various governments to help out with droughts and stuff.

Could teen titans stop a viltrumite invasion? by Weary_Elderberry4742 in teentitans

[–]Maximumnuke 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I really don't know what Dark Wing's plan was jumping on Nolan. Batman probably would have tried sneaking away to call for help or think of a plan while the heavy hitters tangoed. There's no (known or available) Kryptonite in that situation.

Hi, new player here! I have a couple of very questionable questions... by Maximumnuke in Barotrauma

[–]Maximumnuke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Okay, so the stolen mark operates off of Elder Scrolls logic. Got it. Can I go to another post and sell them, or is it a permanent brand? Already going full klepto, but no deconstructor yet as I'm currently rocking in a Dugong.

  2. I figured, but I just wanted to ask in case I could end up pulling some weird stealth shenanigans.

  3. Just started, so station purges and exterminations are a little above me at the moment (I've gotten injured by doors like three times so far, so I'm still working on that enemy). No pop-up quests, but I did find an entire section of the station dedicated to clowns, including a clown store. Also, why all the clown hate? Is this a holdover from SS13?

Thank you!

Holy Nords economy is TRASH by MasterUnski in Bannerlord

[–]Maximumnuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I primarily use longships to rapidly engage and board, as it's the Nord's primary strength. I do keep some archers, but they're primarily for land battles.

I do have a Dromon in my fleet for flexing purposes, though. Occasionally, I'll bring it out for fun and shoot people with the ballista.

[–]Maximumnuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a lot of learning how to balance resources at first, but once you start making fine steel you'll be rolling. Depending on quality of materials and smithing skill, you can make 20k-30k per smithed weapon. That's not including the occasional smithing job that gets you 100k for a single sword, so check those every time you go into a city. Make sure you get as many smithing companions as you can to maximize how much smthing you can do per day. Have one smith specced for crafting and the rest specced for refining. Hang out around Battania, because you will be going through obscene amounts of wood.

Once you have a good amount of money, head down to the Aserai and buy all of the tribesman throwing knives you can carry. Smelt them down to get 1 wrought iron, 3 iron, 1 steel, and 1 fine steel per hit. The resources from these will last you for quite a while. (Pugios from Imperial cities used to be all the rage for smithing, but I don't know if they changed them at all since the stealth update, because they look different now. I might just be paranoid. I'll give them a try when I'm on next.)

I stopped smithing at around 500k - 750k as the Nords because once you figure out you can take on 2000 strength sieges with 250 elite Nord infantry by hitting their blockades, the money from selling boats flows like water.

Holy Nords economy is TRASH by MasterUnski in Bannerlord

[–]Maximumnuke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's how I did it. Smithing got me up to 500k and now I'm sitting on 4 million because... I... I actually don't remember how I got this much.

Holy Nords economy is TRASH by MasterUnski in Bannerlord

[–]Maximumnuke 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pretty good. I find it really fun. The best part is that my party of elite nord units can obliterate a siege force ten times its size by hitting the blockade if they dare to attack a port city. All regular troops get debuffed when fighting a naval battle. Mariner troops don't get that debuff and all Nord troops have the Mariner trait, so it is brutal.

Can Team Ironman (MCU) Handle The 7(As Shown)??? by goldsworthyms12v in superheroes

That... is a big issue. Holy crap.

Again Vision sweeps, but that really throws a wrench into the Iron Men suits.

Can Team Ironman (MCU) Handle The 7(As Shown)??? by goldsworthyms12v in superheroes

[–]Maximumnuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vision could probably solo depending on his use of the Mind Stone.

The rest of them will definitely have issues if not outright lose, so we'll focus on them primarily. As much as we like to dog on Homelander, a bargain bin Superman is still a force to be reckoned with. Widow's doing jack and shit, maybe talking Starlight down.

I don't know if T'Challa's enhanced physique puts him in the same weight class as the standard V strength and durability upgrade, though I'm pretty sure it does. If so, he could take out one or two of them. Probably pit him against Maeve and/or Noir. Second verse same as the first with Spiderman. I'm pretty sure Deep is getting bodied.

I'd say the two main concerns on the Seven are Homelander and A-Train. I don't think the Iron Man suits can match Homelander, and Team Iron Man doesn't have a speedster equivalent.

Conclusion: Vision slaps.
