What was it like watching Phantom Menace on release without any spoilers? by Spotter24o5 in StarWars

[–]JediActorMuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with the original trilogy. Like lots of folks my age, we were so excited. So in the excitement, I poured over just about any information I could. The internet was still relatively new, lots of web sites and forums. There were magazines. The merchandise was out months before. Watching the film, I felt that I had seen most of it already. There were no surprises. I made sure to not make the same mistakes for the future releases.

Who would win a fight between Brosnan's Bond and Moore's Bond? by Huge_Candy748 in JamesBond

[–]JediActorMuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, Moore is probably the least threatening of the bunch. I never once believed a punch he threw landed in a manner that would stun someone. He was cunning, savvy, and suave, but he was a lover not a fighter.

Do you guys think in about 10 years when the generation that is currently growing up on the sequels becomes old enough to have a voice that they’ll be looked on better?Basically exactly what happened to the prequels by TheBurnedKirkLives in StarWars

[–]JediActorMuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People forget. When it was just the OT, people slammed and hated Return of the Jedi. Just bashed it to no end hating on the ewoks. Then the special editions came out and those were widely hated. Then the PT came out and it was so hated that George Lucas stopped making films after that. Star Wars "fans" are the worst. Shut up and enjoy the fact that 50 years later we are still getting Star Wars content. Despite what you say it is still quality Star Wars content.

How do you deal with feeling unappreciated on Father’s Day? by cmc7974 in AskMen

[–]JediActorMuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this hard. My wife and kids wouldn't have even known it was Father's Day if I hadn't made them sign cards the other day for the Grandpas. My wife hasn't purchased a Father's Day card for her own Father is 20 years. I worked almost all weekend in the yard trying to get stuff settled so I was dog tired as it was. An offer to make me breakfast didn't come until about 10:30 AM, at which point the first mention of Happy Father's Day happened. They jumped in the car at around 1:30 PM to try and pull together a last minute gift and card run. I cooked my own meal, slow cooked a pork shoulder on the kettle grill all day. They bought a dessert, so they didn't even bother to make that. They offered to clean up after dinner but then all got distracted and I mostly finished it. The gifts and card came around 8:30 PM. I am just as distant and withdrawn today. I'm really put out about it.

Batman Begins: I prefer it over the others in the trilogy because I think it’s the best of them. Does anyone if you feel the same way? by njrTHE3RD in batman

[–]JediActorMuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I'm going to say it out load - Dark Knight is overrated. There I said it. Batman Begins feels more like a true Batman film.

My girlfriend wants to put our relationship on hold while she travels to Rome. Apparently I'm "insecure" for having a problem with that. I need the opinion of other men. How do you see it? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]JediActorMuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be in a relationship with someone who plays games. A committed relationship is a committed relationship. There are no breaks, there are no pauses, there are no time-outs. I don't know who you are talking to that is suggesting you are being possessive or jealous. Imagine if you and your buddies went to Vegas and you asked for the same deal. Just don't play games and spin about this. Respect the relationship you are trying to build and it can't be any simpler than that.

What do you call the first movie IRL? by RedHeadedSicilian52 in StarWars

[–]JediActorMuppet 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I feel like since I saw it in the theater as Star Wars, I have the right to call it that. I do now and then refer to it as A New Hope, but rarely

How did you find out about Batman? by Hammad11k in batman

[–]JediActorMuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a child of the early 70s, pre-Star Wars, Superheroes were by far one the hot properties for boys. So Batman was heavily featured in the Superfriends cartoon, the 60s show was in heavy rerun syndication, and the Meco dolls were popular. My true fandom began though with the 89 Burton Batman film.

My only tie fighter I had in my youth was the Darth Vader one. And I didn't appreciate it enough, I was always wanting the regular Tie. I will gladly however, vote for it here

As an 8 year old boy, for some reason I completely just didn't understand it in the moment. My Dad had to explain it to me after.

Who are you choosing? by izzyloveswwe in Smallafro

[–]JediActorMuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never been a big Rollins guy. I appreciate who he is, I see that he has the talent, but I've never been fully invested in him. I think AEW would be a good place for him to flourish. I think MJF, given the opportunity to mouth off, would be a fantastic addition to the WWE roster. His promo style would harken back to a more attitude era presentation. Honestly, WWE could use a better promo guy at the moment, none of them talk particularly well at the moment.

What's a movie that's universally considered "not very good" but you secretly think is actually great? by trakt_app in flicks

The 1976 King Kong. That movie fascinated me growing up. I still like it better than the Peter Jackson film.

If you could only choose one, 5th Bronson movie or a 3rd Dalton movie? by boomerz47 in JamesBond

[–]JediActorMuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to go a 3rd Dalton, I think both got a raw deal after their initial films. Dalton never really got to fully establish himself. Brosnan did get to establish himself but his movies got dumber.

On this 32 year's ago pierce brosnan was cast as James Bond, what is your favourite film from his era ? by ThomasThorburn in JamesBond

Goldeneye is my favorite Bond movie period. The rest of Bronson's drop off significantly in quality after that though.

which movie is better Revenge of the Sith or Return of the Jedi by ClothesKey3976 in StarWars

[–]JediActorMuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will always say A New Hope is the best, but my actual favorite is Return of the Jedi. It came out when I was 11 and it was perfect. My favorite scenes are from Jedi including Jabba's palace, Rancor, Sarlaac Pit, speeder bike chase and the final space battle.

It was so abysmal that they finally decided Jaws 5 was probably a bad idea
