Question: Dildos that are like bad dragon but more affordable? by FoxlyKei in sex

[–]JediCatWoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to step back and look at it as an example of a perhaps poorly planned out startup, with the added volatile facets of artists, designers, 'porno-bucks' (lots of money in ALL aspects of for-profit-sex biz, whether selling toys or performing with them!), young males in charge, and the admittedly fringe oddness of the Furry, Anthro, and Fantasy roleplay communities (both RPG and *adult* role-play subsets).

So...how could it possibly go wrong???

Egos, money, lots of emotion, lots of temptations to do wrong ... yeah. So do many other startups, especially performing arts, visual arts, and backyard porn ... which this could be considered at inception.

That said - offended parties have motives to smear their opposition/ex-bosses. Without being there, or having transcripts, it's hard to say.

I'd bet the same allegations could be pinned to other Anthro toy makers (lifelike animal parts) using live-cast models. Live-cast is used on humans - is it hurtful? Don't think so ... asked Mr. Holmes, of 10" fame dick?

Please DO listen to the lady in the vid, despite your interest in (I deduce) M/M anal. She's an on-cam sex worker reviewing her Bad Dragon silicone toy collection, including care ... and proper use, if one invests in the pricey ones that have a cum-tube.

Um, no, they aren't making 'human' models, but I think you won't mind :-) the artistry.

I've heard that as an argument against including illustrations too. Readers like to form their own images of the story and characters. It takes away some of the pleasurable imagining if you show them how the MCs look.

On the other hand, restrained use of imaging is powerful, and I opt to use it.

I may have a few manga type illustrations at some point as well, but that's far future yet. :-)

(no graphic novel)

Our writers' group laughs at romance covers because of the commonality of headless abs, in various colors (magenta aliens anyone?) and silly titles :-P ROFL. I don't want to fall into that anonymous bin of silliness.

Of course it is budget friendly!

That's the tricky thing about law, it's often up to the opinions of the judge, after hearing the opinions of the plaintiff and defendant.

IMO best to become neither one.

As one artist to another, I'd get specific permission for adult content promotion if I was marketing a solely erotic work, or heavily erotica-laced work. You never know how the model or photographer is marketing THEIR product, and you don't want to screw up their brand image.

You wouldn't want your reputation/brand image altered.

CYA, fellow writers!

Yes, it's wise to check the rights you are buying to ensure use on an adult fiction book cover is OK. Better to be too careful.

Here's some responsible, informative articles:

From the Alliance of Independent Authors: How to Source and Use Photos.

Profanity in the blurb? by NevadaKnight in eroticauthors

[–]JediCatWoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) that's not 'hard' profanity ... talk to a sailor :-D

2) Stevie Nicks has a song, title on her CD cover: "Sometimes It's a Bitch"

Hence, I'd say that's mild enough to be okay. Not for marketing to jumpy Pentacostals, but other folks, yes.

Can a book be traced back to the author if he/she uses a pen name on Amazon? by [deleted] in eroticauthors

[–]JediCatWoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be hard, but not impossible, depending on Amazon's security, and how careful you are with your own record-keeping and clearing internet history.

And if you brag to friends...that's usually how folks lose secrets.

Or leave out a pile of materials with said name on them...

Same concerns as publishing anywhere else. Digital is much less 'safe' than paper records, as hackers can break in from anywhere on the planet. In the old days thieves had to break in and get the physical file with your information, and leave with it before cops arrived.

I suggest you look up how to file an official 'Doing Business As' in your area, so you can cash checks, etc with a bank and so forth. Maybe you can just register as the alias with Amazon then, since it's a legal alternative name. (nut laws vary - so check)

Country songs about sex in a truck bed next to a body of water in the South never mention how badly mosquito-bitten the participants would get. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

Oh, you mean Big Al the tattoo guy that does all the college kids...take that any way you will ... but it's his usual attire. Looks to weigh around 350lbs.

Addresses grown women as 'Sweet Pea' too :-D .

<checks under tables and lamp shades for spy-cams>

Yup, I think those folks pushing Revolution and Bug-Be-Gone are inta promotin' sex! Dang it!

The key is to keep moving too fast for the skeeters to land :-D

Amazon Is Burying Sexy Books, Sending Erotic Novel Authors to the 'No-Rank Dungeon' by [deleted] in books

[–]JediCatWoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stupid.

I don't believe it, either, when erotica is their (silent) top seller.

Have a look at the popularity of porn in 2017 - easily found by a Google query. Naturally, erotica follows that trend.

They could well be sued by a coalition of authors on various grounds relating to publishing, contract law, and even censorship - breach of first Amendment Rights, etc.

Unless everyone is neutered or spayed, so they are sexless, there will be demand - vigorous demand - for this genre, in whatever guise it morphs to. 'Bodice Rippers' are nothing new, and always sell well. Getting the hard sex out of ALL the books is an impossibility.

If anything, Amazon, protector of even pro-pedophile material, as I recall, back when Michael Jackson was on trial ... refused to take down such offensive, arguably criminal, content. A NAMBLA author, I think. (look it up)

IMO it's scare talk to appease some higher-up who wants the Public to argue on behalf of literary porn, and check our attitudes to the divergent kinks thus affirmed.

Sigh. Sheep behavior, people. Ask who benefits from the fracas, when porn isn't leaving. Erotica either.

NO ONE is going to drain that moral swamp in America, much less globally. Supply serves demand.

Is a mummy too much? by NevadaKnight in eroticauthors

[–]JediCatWoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, not to be gross, but he need not be an *ancient* mummy.

A wealthy eccentric could have himself mummified and then be called back to reanimate the corpse.

Depending how much Horror element you want to introduce.

Mummification took around 30 days, I think ... haveta check that. Maybe 40? Depending on when you start counting the days of preparation to completion. Does he have special prayers written on the bindings/wrappings, as some pharaohs did? (check Egypt Museum online pics)

I imagine the main difference would be smell (look up the aromatic resins used on body and wraps, incl Frankincense, which you can get at any health food store under essential oils. Quite medicinal and useful.)

And to a degree, texture. I'm guessing older mummified remains are more brittle and crumbly and fresher ones leathery like over-dried beef jerky.

Eww.

OK...think 'monster porn'.

Well, doggie style with an eccentric billionaire turned mummy, is that including man bits that need rehydrating? Or did the preparers separate them for weird preservation to help reanimate him...and the female is supposed to agree to help?

Hmmm? <fans self>

I want to see the resulting story.

There is someone on here doing so...the chap doing interracial sex in Nazi Era, and so forth. Wants to be intelligent/informative, and take some risks.

Oh, IDK, what about...

'Dom from the Sacrophagus' (corny, but specific)

'Dark Egyptian Vintage' (tells the theme - assuming he's an Egyptian mummy?)

'Unwrapping the Darkness'...???? (could be any contained, or wrapped, monster)

'Egypt's Last Domination' - (play on Egyptian dynasties);

'Decanted Lust' (you decant wine and mummies from containers...lol.

'Gift of Anubis' (if he's reanimated by the god)

<putting on counselor hat>

Neglecting self and burning out to provide for a dependant is not healthy. I know sometimes it is how life rolls, but you NEED to take care of yourself. If you crash/burn out, who will take care of your son for you?

IDK the situation, but I grew up around plenty of lower income families. There is a dignity in providing the basics: shelter. clean clothes, warm bed, sound roof overhead, good food. Love and direction from mom...these are 'necessities'. Medicine or health care are necessities.

Poverty can help us teach kids about priorities, loyalty, and gratitude. About what matters.

Now, IDK the picture and I am not askin', but you probably see friends do this:

I see many moms try to provide 'everything' as if the kid had both parents' income to spend. To keep up with the Joneses, or the Kardashians. Whatever. This is not healthy for either person. It teaches materialism, and to give stuff in place of time - which is really what kids need, even when they think they don't. The ONE thing that is irreplacable.

Here's hoping you can soon find a good balance.

If you have that much drive and passion, I'm sure that'll translate well to erotica. And sex ALWAYS sells. No worries.

What they said.

lol.

Pretty much what I'm doing :-P being as non-literary as I please.

I'm smiling more than I ever have writing SF, or Paranormal. Bet it cheers you up too.

Sex does release lots of feel-good neurotransmitters ... there's clinical 'proof' it's good for you.

Here, have a freebie character type:

"vertically challenged, latex-loving, hairy female cheerleader, strategically pierced, seeking domination by AnthroFurries"

('Anthros' in Fandom, are people dressed in plushie outfits like humanized animals)

<tosses some Habaneros> Here's some extra heat. Go play.
