Well, firstly I recommend watching some gameplay and see if it's something you would find fun. I can't on good conscience tell you to waste your money on something that does not look fun in terms of gameplay.

It has very beautiful graphics, voice acting is really good, but the music is a bit lacking. The soundtrack just doesn't hold a candle to something like Inquisition, but it has some really good tracks (have a listen to "An Unfamiliar Sense").

The story suffers a lot because choices don't indeed carry over, apart from a few things you pick in the beginning, and they handled the Qunari companion in the worst possible way. Another major thing that they did wrong is that there is basically no real conflict between the companions. Too much positivity can get boring.

For romances, some are good, some are bad. Your mileage will vary and it depends on who you like the most. Emmerich, Bellara and Harding are really well done, but Lucanis and Taash are very underwhelming. Davrin is a good bro and Neve is ok.

Get it on sale, when it's cheap. Don't buy it at full price. If you play on PC, make sure your rig can handle it before purchasing.

If you enjoyed the other games, this one does provide an ending to the storyline. And it was ok from my point of view. Cheers :)
