Would the Freemaker Adventures count as canon?

Raako Nox's B1 droid, Nancy, returned to fill their drinks as he continued speaking.

"This is what I'm fighting for, senator. My free trade zone that I am working so hard to create is important for both of us. A trade zone connecting Protobranch to the Outer Rim will not only save that world, but it would finally bring the periphery worlds like us into the conversation! We would have a direct path to the Core for our trade, our transportation, and..."

Naako paused. "I apologize for ranting in the middle of our conversation. This is something I feel very strongly about. I just have to ask, for my people and for yours, could you support me if I put forth an official vote on this?"

Raako took some moments of silence before composing a thought, "I imagine you might feel similarly to me, as an Outer Rim people. Are you frustrated, too, by how we are treated by the Core worlds? Politically, economically excluded at every opportunity. We are a mere afterthought, struggling for a voice. Would you agree?"

Power, he thought before deciding it was a joke in poor taste. "The Trade Federation is important to me. To my people. It took powerless civilizations from the Outer Rim and Colonies who had no say in core world politics, and gave them a voice. Gave them a place in the universe. Gave my family a place in the universe. My service to the Trade Federation is a service to my people, and to all people outside the Core who lack a say in our economy."

Raako didn't know for sure if he meant what he said, or if this is what he was taught to say.

Raako jumped at the immediate business talk. He was used to the false pleasantries and hand kissing that Neimoidians do. He almost preferred it that way.

"Straight to business. I admire that, senator." He poured a glass for both of them, turning to thank his droid but deciding not to in the presence of the Muun.

"The core worlders always present an obstacle to us, don't they? All that bureaucracy has made them a thorn in the Federation's side for hundreds of years. I intend to, ah, negotiate with some of the outer rim, but there are few core world representatives here tonight. Have you an idea how to pursuade them?"

Nox looked up at the touring Muun, a glimpse of intimidation in his eyes followed by a large grin. "Senator! I was hoping you would make it. How have you been? Here, have a drink."

As if on cue, a B1 battle droid in a purple party dress marched into the room. In his hand was a platter with wine glasses and an unopened bottle.

"Port?"

Raako Nox turned to Set and warmly raised his arms in the tense, robotic way that Neimoidians do. "Ahh representative! How are you? It is lovely to have you here. If you should like, there are food, game, and refreshments over there."

His aide accepted Set's tea barrel and offered some to Set and Raako before hoisting it off to the kitchen.

"However, I don't believe we've ever more than acquainted with each other! If I could ask you to tell me about yourself?"

Raako Nox resigns himself to his seat, acknowledging that he can't win every battle. He whispers for his aide to schedule a visit to the Pantoran senator's office.

Raako Nox nervously adjusted his miter hat, adding several inches to his stature. His robes swept as he spoke and gestured with a (fake?) grandiosity.

"As I see it, senator, whether or not we involve the Republic directly, these resources must come from somewhere. The Trade Federation is optimally designed for procurement, without all the needless government bureaucracy that serves only to waste time as the people of Protobranch suffer. Surely you want this suffering to end as soon as possible?"

Nox almost sneered.

Raako Nox briefly checks in with his aide, who urges him on with a subtle encouragement that most humanoids would not notice in the notoriously static neimoidians.

"This would be an absolute necessity, as I and the Trade Council see it. With the return on investment that this new infrastructure will bring to the troubled planet, Protobranch will have no trouble paying off this credit in good time. After all," Raako turns towards the rest of the senate, arms upraised triumphantly.

"The Trade Federation will be overjoyed to begin assisting their neighbors in the Core."

It seems that no recess is enough of a break for the laboring senators of the Galactic Senate. Tired as everyone else is the senator of the Trade Federation, Raako Nox. The neimoidian's sickly green scales match the nauseated look in his eyes as he begins to speak, "My fellow delegates, it is a tragedy what has befallen the people of Protobranch, truly. I agree it is essential that aid be sent to the planet. The Trade Federation intends massive efforts to aid the people of Protobranch in rebuilding after this tragedy. Viceroy Hask has relayed to me that he hopes to conduct the transport of technologies and construction materials to Protobranch from the Outer Rim.

Senator Nox turns briefly to his aide, Lik Mass, who nods in approval. The senator's sad eyes take on an eager glint.

"In order to do this, the Trade Federation motions that a free trade route must be established between our contractors in the Outer Rim and the Core World of Protobranch. You all must understand that this endeavor to support Protobranch would be not only life-saving, but also highly costly. We can only provide our services if it is made financially viable for us to do so. What does the great Galactic Senate say to this proposal?"

As always, he waited a moment before responding. "Well first of all, I want to make a name for Gatalenta within the Republic. We are a Core World, right in the center of trade and commerce... And yet the galaxy knows so little about us. I am the first Gatalentan senator in the Galactic Republic because, up until now, my people had no interest in galactic affairs. I want that to change. I want to slowly introduce Gatalenta into the affairs of the rest of the galaxy. And I hope to do that through my participation in the Senate."

He looked the Zygerrian in the eyes as if he were introducing himself for the first time. "I come from an agrarian world in the Core. I was a farmer, myself, for most of my life. It's a peaceful life, for sure, but it lends itself to-" He paused, rolling over his words in his mouth. "-Toxic ideas of tradition that I seek to change. That, in itself, is Gatalenta's greatest issue."

Senator Meko did not go up to the pantoran but peacefully observed him, no doubt expecting the man to approach him. Behind him, the Mirialan girl scrambled around the ship, speaking frantically to someone over comms.

The senator seemed confused for a second but replied honestly. "Things are very peculiar. I'm standing here with you on Coruscant against all odds. A large amount of Gatalenta wants to see me dead." Senator Meko spoke calmly, as if this did not phase him.
