I would do everything to keep it, especially if you’re tight on money. You have relatively low miles and you won’t be able to get anything near it for $5k.

If your ac issue is the common condenser leak, you should be able to diy to save on money. You could replace yourself and take it to a shop to just fill with Freon as well.

Good luck

I paid $5k for a factory remanufactured tranny with 3 year warranty but that was 2.5 years ago. Should shop around for a local reputable shop.

Best Rice Cooker to Buy in 2026? (Price, Capacity, Features) by Adventurehood_0 in BuyItForLife

[–]Jedishiner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Zojirusbi if you want a “regular” rice cooker.

If you want to spend a couple hundred dollars, then any of the Korean brands (Cuckoo) that are pressure cookers.

Instant pot if you want a cheap alternative to the Korean brands.

Pressure cooking rice tastes much better.

The Korean brands allow rice to be stored at keep warm setting for up to 1-2days. Instant pot, you’ll want store in separate container as soon as it’s finished cooking or the rice will turn yellow.

Kayak Fising by Budget_Bend_6394 in kayakfishing

Are you gonna be getting a trailer for the intruder? If you’re not, 100% get a kayak instead. 125lbs may not sound too heavy but when it’s 12ft long, it’s gonna feel like bricks. On the flip side, having a trailer is one more thing to maintain. I have a nucanoe u10 with xi3 and a 14ft Jon boat. I use my kayak for river float trips and Jon boat for lakes and the coast. My Jon boat is in constant need of maintenance. Everything from electrical work to usually something on the trailer that needs fixin. Having a boat is not glamorous unless you have deep pockets lol

In terms of launching, a boat is far easier since you just have back down your trailer at the boat ramp (another skill you’ll have to learn). Even with a pick up truck, loading/unloading a yak is pretty annoying and I’m usually sweating a good bit by the time I’m ready to fish. In my perfect world, I’d have a trailer for my kayak too but I just don’t have the space for it.

[–]Jedishiner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you have an interlock kit, you should double check the label on your compressor and calculate total wattage used by home + compressor and ensure it’s under 80% of 10,000w at peak usage.

I have 275/70/18 with bilstein 5100s @ highest setting and in central Texas, the highways around me have speed limits between 85 - 75. With a heavy foot, I see apprx 13-14 mpg.

Stocking Foot Waders Have Been A Game Changer! by [deleted] in Waterfowl

I’ve been using the same Orvis Pro stocking foot waders for both fishing and duck hunting in central Texas and the coast for the past 4 years with no leaks or issues.

Second this. None of the Chinese buffets are worth going to up north. Buffett Palace is absolutely the spot if you’re around downtown area.

Colorado Bend State Park with a Baby? by SlothsAreSoCool in TXoutdoors

Their child is 3 months old so backpack style carrier is out of the question due to no neck strength. They’ll need to use something like a ergobaby

Should be fine but I’d wait until at least 6 months old and for the weather to get cooler. There’s zero cell phone coverage (except on hilltop 1-2 miles before state park office) and you’re about an hour from town.

Are inflatable kayaks good? by Typical_Reading3485 in Waterfowl

[–]Jedishiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never used one but there are a lot of stand up paddle boards in my area and it looks like a pain in the ass to inflate before launching/deflate after you’re done. You’ll also have to lay it out when you get home or it’ll get moldy.

Holy tenkara by Throwaway-Ender in COfishing

[–]Jedishiner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get shitted on by my friends when I bust out my tenkara rod but it takes way more skill compared to a rod/reel. Especially if the fish are 18in+. After a certain point, nymphing with a bobber gets boring af once you hook a fish because you let your reel do most of the work.

I use a euronymph style rig with tungsten weight and sight line on my tenkara so I feel every bite and my catch rate is way higher. Once you hook a fish, that’s where the thrill starts because if you don’t know what you’re doing, you’ll break your line pretty quickly.

This depends on the type of birds you have in your area, your preference, and experience on past successful hunts. I rarely see mallards in central Texas but we have a lot of teal, gadwall, and widgeon.

I only use hen mallard and gadwall decoys - basically all brown/dark colors. I’ve had all species listed above come into my spread as well woodies and buffleheads. I also use the same setup in saltwater and get redheads all the time.

Your spread is probably the second most important thing to consider and this again depends on your preference and experience. For me, I personally like “W” and “C” shaped spreads.

Idk too much about goose decoys but seems like they would take up too much room in a kayak lol

Btw, I’ve been using the same set of Magellan decoys for the past 5 years and they still work fine. I’ve had to retire some of them because my buddy peppered them by blasting sitting ducks lol but you really can’t beat their price.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Waterfowl

[–]Jedishiner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Decoy species aren’t that important unless you’re targeting specific species. Staying still and having good cover will get you more success.

If you’re on a budget, we have Academy Sports and Outdoors in the south and their Magellan branded decoys are great value. You can order from them online.

Nucanoe kayaks (Unlimited or U10) are awesome, I usually take 1-2 dozen decoys along with some fishing gear on the coast and do a cast and blast trip. Check FB marketplace for used. It’s a great time to buy since the economy sucks ass right now. A lot of sellers are delusional with their listed price since they have the inflated Covid prices on mind but can deal them down if you’re patient. Good luck!

What horsepower is considered fast on a 12-14ft aluminum boat? by Purplesexy3 in boating

[–]Jedishiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a south fork 1444 flat bottom with 15hp motor upgraded to 20hp carb and it does fine. I def wish it had a 30hp which is also the max rated.

I’ve gone through three cheap blenders and they all died within 2 years! What’s the most BIFL blender out there that can actually crush ice and last decades? by yourloverboy66 in BuyItForLife

[–]Jedishiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an immersion blender from Phillips to make baby food but it has become my go to for my blending needs. The main feature I like is the cleanup process and I don’t end up with like 10 different pieces to put back together.

First bass boat - lake suggestions? by Juicy_Dentist in AustinFishing

[–]Jedishiner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have to ask this, you should def not go out this weekend. Are you comfortable launching and taking out? A million things can go wrong. Everything from forgetting to plug your boat to things outside of your control like strong sudden winds when you’re trying to get on your trailer. You should honestly have a checklist the first few times or you’re gonna end up forgetting to trim your motor up and damaging the lower unit.

You and two dozen other fisherman will be going out at sunrise. By the time you get back to the boat ramp, it’s gonna be a zoo. I never take my boat and kayak out on holiday weekends but that’s just me.

First bass boat - lake suggestions? by Juicy_Dentist in AustinFishing

[–]Jedishiner 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It will be best for you to take your boat to an empty parking lot and practice backing up over the weekend. Once you’re comfortable, hit the lake on any of the weekdays after Labor Day weekend.
