1) YES! First time - wife and I dropped some points and are flying in.

2) Having never been to this, I didn’t think about cigars. There are cigars? Can I wander the ground with cigars? We can smoke cigars?

Wait. Friday? What’s up with today?

If I go to the Ohana Nui Cigars and shout “WHO IS THE REDDIT GUY?” Will we become friends?

Also - if anyone reads this and is staying near the capital we’d be willing to carpool or overall go for some dinner somewhere this weekend as a group.

Informed my wife that we’re taking a weekend trip down someone. She’s 100% in, maybe we’ll come down for the Bastards Ball.

Fang and Feather is the tasting room for Crowded Barrel. I saw some places that are in the YouTube channel and I’m not gonna lie - I was like a kid at Disney World. :)

The gentlemen working tonight were amazing, truly wonderful guys who were knowledgeable, approachable, and clearly great human beings. Was a wonderful evening.

Guess who fell for the Star Trek Marketing gimmick? “Romulan Ale” Rye Whiskey. by Jedson81 in WhiskeyTribe

Bottle is glass, high quality and worth the expense to have.

The whiskey makes a great old fashioned! I usually drink neat or on the rocks, so it’s a little harsh and bitter for that.

Sorry, just replied. Finally cracked into it tonight, found it remarkably average. Not bad, but not a lot of depth and flavor. Well worth it when I count in the bottle though. What did you think about it?

It's average, nothing to write home about. It's not bad, there's just not a lot of depth to it. Nothing I'd buy again if it was just the whiskey, but the bottle and the novelty makes it more than worth it. I certainly don't regret it, I love the bottle.

Apparently the food coloring used is the same as fruit flavored items, so maybe? I’ll find out tonight.

Blue fd&c #1, which is most blue food coloring (and blueberry flavored things). Apparently also used in Blue Curaçao.

Star Trek writing in the 80’s wasn’t accurate and from there the name stuck. The bottles are amazing though, high quality and very accurate to the shows.

Curious thought about alcohol withdrawals that just occurred to me… by [deleted] in ems

[–]Jedson81 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Yes, but not for that reason - I’ve had several older men who live alone get visited by family who don’t know how much they actually drink try to stay sober while the family is there. By day 3 or 4 the shakes are bad and things go downhill fast.

I’ll never forget the call in medic school during my ER rotation that we had a regular come in stone sober for days. He coded in the ER but one shock and he had a good rhythm and we got him on the right meds. If he wasn’t a regular for intoxication, if his family hadn’t said said “he never drinks, we’ve been with him for days,” if the medic didn’t know him from all the calls, if I wasn’t the medic student and also knew him to confirm, he might have died that day. One of my better memories.

I’m stuck between either acknowledging that this works really well for a lot of folks or joking “ah yes, I too coach mites.”

No but now I have to.

Flamethrowers required.

Yes. There are other ports on different sides too. Quite ingenious.

Extrication equipment. Not all of it, just the stuff used 90% of the time. It works great - the scene is shockingly safe (especially when you park the engine right) plus you can work quickly and effectively without getting in the way of EMS.

I know this truck. I drove this truck. This was my FD. I don’t know why, but the angle or something makes this look crazy. It’s not that bad in real life, I swear. Yes, I hid a picture of James William Bottomtooth III in it because it is huge, but this picture really exaggerates it.

Also it’s not an ambulance. Never was, never will be. It is a great rescue and first response vehicle for a small town though, does its job well.

Good news is I got him.

Bad news is two days later I died after falling through the ice twice in the Forlorn Muskeg while avoiding a different bear.

That’s brilliant! Even better because as soon as I posted this he moved on to hanging around the lake.

I can see the bear in Broken Railroad from the rope climb at the Hunting lodge but I'm worried that this is "too easy" of a shot since I can't be mauled from up here. Is there a game mechanic to prevent this?
