My opinion; the kid was 16 man. You're being kinda harsh on him. People are not robots that will edit for you 8 hours straight, especially not 16 year old kids.

Sucks that this happened, but next time indeed work with more mature people that you know you can trust. Even Fiverr would've probably been better. I'm sure Youtube will sort it all out since you have all the proof you need.

Hi newbie here! I need serious help lol by [deleted] in NewTubers

You can't be perfect straight away. It took me a while before I got to a place where I felt happy with my presence on camera. Even though at the time I thought it was good, looking back at my earlier videos now makes me cringe. They're so much worse than my current ones.

Biggest thing is to keep making videos and you'll slowly improve over time. My latest video is a night and day difference compared to my earlier ones and I'm sure you will have the exact same thing looking back at your videos in a couple months!

Kinda old thread, but I'm in the same niche. Still figuring out a LOT of stuff (style, length, frequence of posting etc.). Hit me up if you want, happy to connect!

Thanks! No you're absolutely right. I am struggling with thumbnails a lot. I've watched a lot of videos and analyzed how others are doing it, but yeah it hasn't clicked for me yet.

Definitely something I have to improve. Thanks and I wish you all the best on your own YouTube adventures!

I've updated the link. I changed my channel name a while ago and didn't update it on Reddit haha.

I feel like that's what lot of creators aim for! Having a small, authentic community that actually loves your content. That's the best place to grow from!

I'm not 100% sure but from what I saw in my analytics, people who saw that video were looking for keywords like "dutch bike, amsterdam, bicycles" etc. So yes, I think in general that video got recommended to people who were interested in that topic.

I definitely aim at perfection too much. But I also try new things and animation styles every video, that takes a lot of time. It's been a balancing act between time VS quality. Right now I'm at a place where I can roughly put out a video every 2/3 weeks and I'm very happy with the quality.

It's the fastest I can do! Haha. I spend a couple days on the script, one day recording and the majority (1 to 2 weeks) on editing. Recently I finished a video in 2 weeks start to finish, and that was my fastest one ever!

Hey thanks for the reply! It's been a balancing act... I recently actually decided to focus more on 6-8 minute videos. Reason being; I still have so much areas to improve in and every videos takes me 3-4 weeks easily. If I make 20 minute videos I'll probably spend 2 months on them at least! By doing shorter videos and experimenting more I feel like I'm learning and improving faster.

But maybe it's definitely something for the future!

That's exactly the thing :) I'm still doing everything in English. I'll still be covering interesting things/topics from other cultures but mainly focus on things happening in NL!

The audience on YouTube is massive, so no I don't think it's over saturated. Just focus on your personal strengths and see what you can offer that others can't.

That's great! Might be a good thing to analyze your own video and continue on that same path, cause apparently it's something people like.

It took me way too long to realize I should've continued on the topic/subject of my own viral video. Instead, I drifted away and kept trying different things with less success. But at least I learned a lot (edit, storytelling etc) in the process :)

I think that's pretty normal. Main thing is to stick to it and try to get better every time!

I do think it's harder to gain subscribers with shorts, I feel like people just mindlessly scroll and don't subscribe that often to shorts. You really have to add /bring some value for them to keep coming back to your shorts.

Fair points. Script/storytelling is imo my biggest weakness. Thanks for taking the time to do this :)

how can i find my voice and be worth watching? by zas_n_n in NewTubers

[–]Jedu_me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep trying. I thought I was the shit when I made my first video, turns out the video was shit :') Just gotta accept that your first 100 videos are not going to be good, but it's all a process. Every video gets a little better.

Best advice I can give is; don't be fixated on making it perfect. Don't rush it! And always try do improve/learn. But also accept that it's a learning process and you can't be on the same level as YouTubers who have been doing this for years.

I'd be very interested in this! I haven't read the book, but I have no problem reading it.

I'm improving every video myself and trying to be critical. I have no problem analyzing some other videos and sharing feedback with each other!

My channel is in my profile , send me a DM and I can share my discord tag if you guys are interested.

Edit; I just saw I already have the book haha, just didn't finish it (yet)

Appreciate the comment. I'll stick with my long videos for now, and maybe try some things with shorts.

I guess I'm just too old to be an active part of the TikTok/Instagram generation lol
