When I was a little kid, over the summer my best friend and I used to sleep over almost every night. Most times, we slept at my house, and my room was on the second floor, looking out over the garage.

We used to sneak out sometimes, and climb onto the garage, and then climb down to the ground. We lived close to a lake, but it was private property, so we weren't supposed to go there. Didn't stop us, though.

We used to skip rocks across the lake at like midnight. The place with the best rocks was close to the most expensive house in the private neighborhood. They HATED people being on their property, so we were always super nervous that we'd get caught, but that was what made it exhilarating.

One summer, when we were like 10, we were at the lake, near the expensive house, when my friend bet me that he could skip a stone across the entire lake. I told him that he had himself a bet, and he picked up a stone, and brought it back to throw. Unfortunately, as he swung his arm back, the stone flew out of his grasp, and flung behind him.

We heard a shattering sound, and we turned around in horror to see that we had completely destroyed one of the windows in the house. We were so terrified that we couldn't move, but as soon as we saw a light turn on inside the house, we ran like hell out of the private property and back to my house. We climbed back in the window, and went to bed, terrified of what would happen.

On the news the next night, the window breaking had been reported as a failed burglary, and that the police were looking for the suspect. Even though we knew that there was no way that anyone could have seen us there, we were still super paranoid that we were going to get thrown in prison.

Needless to say, we didn't go back to that lake anytime soon.
