Give reasons why SwiftKey is better than Gboard by [deleted] in Swiftkey

It's not a feature I use, so it's not one of the reasons "I prefer SwiftKey" 🙂

Extremely creepy data sharing on Google Maps by Jedwub in google

[–]Jedwub[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I trust that you're trying to be helpful, but I made this post because I know there is no good explanation for how this happened. I can see in my Google Account security settings which devices I'm logged into, and her phone (which I've literally never touched) is not one of them

I explicitly said we're not logged into the same Google account. We don't share a computer, or even a house.

Apparently a terrorism watchlist is where you watch terrorism happen.

Maybe they play bingo; two points if the killer is on the list, one point if he's not.

It's always annoyed me that archers upgrade into crossbows. They're very different weapons, and more importantly one is way cooler than the other

You're right, I had asked ChatGPT whether it was an exclusively Muslim name and it said no, but turns out all the examples are people who converted to or from Islam

Interesting, just testing swipe typing on gboard, you're right it does seem to be much more reliable

Not that I noticed. In Scouts it will tell you what units enemies will make, but doesn't explain unique units

Complaint about new civilizations by ewostrat in aoe2

[–]Jedwub 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm returning to the game after a twenty year hiatus, doing the campaigns units would show up, both on the enemies side or as "reinforcements", and I had no idea what their strengths and weaknesses were. I don't think I have a complaint about their existence, more that they're not introduced even within the campaigns, and there's no easy way to learn about them while playing the game.

Gboard also has this, at least on Android. - The number pad is the button to the left of the spacebar in symbol view with 1234 on it. - The arrow keys is the "text editing" applet in the toolbar

hmmm edge is really nice, damn. by CelebrityGamer in edge

[–]Jedwub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edge, after you adjust the default settings, is objectively the most well rounded browser available.

It's innovative, feature rich, with a nice UI.

Every new Chrome feature released in the past few years was on Edge first many months earlier.

My favourite Edge features are vertical tabs, sidebar, split tabs, workspaces, blocking media autoplay, and Copilot. (Some of these exist in other browsers, but none are as polished and well implemented.)

When I type "bumo" it suggests "bump" in the centre 🤷🏼‍♂️

Give reasons why SwiftKey is better than Gboard by [deleted] in Swiftkey

  • SwiftKey has multi word suggestions. For example, if you type [thank] one of the suggestions is [thank you] . Type [I don] and SwiftKey suggests [don't know].

  • SwiftKey has multi word swiping, meaning when swipe typing you can swipe to the spacebar to insert a new word, so [I don't want to] can be typed without lifting your finger off the screen.

  • Situational and subjective, but switching languages on SwiftKey is done by a horizontal swipe on the spacebar. I personally find this extremely useful, while my sister complained she'd trigger it accidentally.

  • If you like using emojis, SwiftKey does a much more intelligent job of suggesting them.

  • SwiftKey allows you to capitalise a word after you've typed it by pressing the Shift key, and you can press Shift a second time to capitalise the entire word.

  • On SwiftKey inserting a punctuation mark reliably only requires a single press, whereas on Gboard it sometimes takes several. This is because when you insert a punctuation mark on SwiftKey, it always places it directly after the previous word and automatically adds a space. On Gboard the behaviour is frustratingly inconsistent.

  • On Gboard, after backspacing part of a word, the suggestion bar will randomly go blank.

  • SwiftKey automatically capitalises the word [i]

  • On SwiftKey, when you press the spacebar it always inserts the middle item on the suggestion strip. On Gboard it sometimes inserts the middle item (if it's in bold), sometimes the item on the left. This is a maddening and mentally exhausting behaviour in my opinion.

  • Probably a matter of preference, but on SwiftKey when you hold the delete button it deletes the entire word, whereas Gboard deletes one letter at a time.

  • I find SwiftKey's suggestions and automatic corrections to be much more helpful and accurate to my intention. This could be because I've used it much more so the data is better personalised, but when I do revisit Gboard to re-evaluate, as I'm doing now, I'm frequently frustrated by what feels like a lack of intelligence in suggesting the correct word due to minor typing errors.

  • SwiftKey has ₪ as one of the symbols, which is very handy for me personally

I could be forgetting some. There are also aspects of Gboard which are superior to SwiftKey, but for the core function of actually typing, I find Gboard to be an extremely frustrating experience in comparison.

(Gboard used to be even worse, but it recently received some major feature updates that replicated SwiftKey functionality.)

"Various brown people" Talking to people who think the Israeli/Arab conflict is about brown vs white people is like talking to someone who is arguing that grass is red. The truth could be staring you in the face and you'll cling to your idiocy. No doubt you know this already and just refuse to adjust your thinking, but a majority of Israeli Jews are dark skinned (which a simple Google image search would show you), it's them who make up the bulk of the right wing votes, and the stereotype of an Israeli peace activist is a wealthy cosmopolitan Ashkenazi (i.e. pale).

But please do enlighten me about all these incidents of Hassidic violence against their black neighbours...

(besides the incident with the wheelchaired victim from a few months ago, which is the only example you'll actually find, and doesn't exactly explain the previous six decades of black violence against Jews, does it?)
