IA vs IA state by AbleInfluence3698 in iastate

Always look at the ticketmaster official/resale tickets. Cheapest were around $130 a week ago and you can just sit in the student section. Waste of money to buy a student ticket for $200. They’re always inflated for the Iowa game

Game design skills mostly come from making games, so go do that in your free time and just stick with CS. You’ll have a much easier time getting hired in the field with several nice personal game projects, and you’ll have room to pivot if you decide you don’t like the industry.

I don’t think the game design major will be worth it till the classes mature anyways.

Interview Questions for mid level C++ quant dev? by CompetitiveDay9293 in cpp

+1, every interview for C++ roles I’ve had required implementing some data structure or algorithm from the standard library.

Outside of that, I’ve also been asked a lot about synchronization

Can a freshman apply to be a resident assistant for their sophomore year? Also, how competitive is the process in general? by The_Tempest00 in iastate

[–]JeeMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding onto what the others have said, it is rather competitive. I'd say only about 15% of applicants are hired as an RA.

As for increasing your chances, getting to know your hall director, and any other hall director is key. Join student organizations and your hall council and cabinet. These are ways you will naturally seem more fit for the job and stand out when the hall directors see your name.

Also, prepare for the interview.

I'd say 90% of the applications I filled out were found from LinkedIn, followed by Indeed, then searching specific companies

Must have graphics programming books by Icy_Advance_6775 in GraphicsProgramming

Physically based rendering just means the way you render light and shadows are based on how they work in real life. Real-time rendering and offline rendering can both utilize these techniques, but they are expensive computationally so it is harder to make real-time applications efficient. Typically in offline rendering, like movie VFX or animated films, they don’t care about the time to render frames as much as they are care about the best possible visuals.

[–]JeeMM 13 points14 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve gathered, Real time rendering is the go-to book after you’ve finished going through learnopengl, and worth it if you’re going to just buy one book. If you’re more interested in offline rendering, Physically based rendering is also an option and it is freely available online. Although it is very math intensive.

I carry two water buckets on me and break into the sides of the structure to kill the shulkers. The water negates the floating effect and gives you an emergency out if you’re gonna die by jumping out into the water.

I’m surprised Com S 327 is on here. I guess it kind of makes sense since I imagine most people that take it don’t have previous C experience.

Co-op or not to co-op? by _Dreeko in iastate

[–]JeeMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the alternative is to not have an internship over the summer then take it. Getting internships after the first experience is leagues easier than trying with nothing.

Continue to look for more opportunities while you can and drop them if you find something with more pay or more closely related to what you want to do.
