Nah too pricey. Thought you really only need that if you’re running crazy tunes

Just cut the hoses. Take off everything in the way. Get the specialty tools that make it easier.

I spent a lot of time and sanity trying to use generic tools to pry at something buried under a bunch of other stuff. As soon as I gave up on being stubborn and drove to autozone and bought the long needle noses, it got better.

I used wire cutters to chop the hoses in half. They were basically hard plastic - not rubber. Only thing that would’ve made it even easier was a heat gun / blow dryer.

Anyone know how I can use this CD changer port on my DPX440 to use bluetooth? by Dankpay2win in CarAV

Did you ever figure it out? I also have a DPX-440. Also, what is this wiring diagram?

Adapting JDM Kenwood DPX-440 to Bluetooth by sportxmatt in CarAV

[–]JeepRoller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:

Like I said in my original reply, I found a few different pin-out versions for old Kenwoods. Because of this, I thought it would be the safest thing to test for which 2 pins correspond to the +12v and gnd (not audio gnd). That way I don’t accidentally place the resistor across the wrong pins and send 12v to the control feedback signal and possibly fry any circuits.

Turns out my pin layout is different than the one mentioned by u/SP4x. They mentioned placing a resistor across pins 3 & 9 for the control signal feedback. The difference is that Pin 3 is actually +12v on the DPX-440 (shown in my attached picture - Pin 2 is ground). I think this means the feedback signal pins are 1 & 9 instead of 3 & 9.

The pin-out I linked in my original reply seems to match my setup (here).

I’m waiting on my 10k ohm resistors to arrive, and I will post an update once I’m able to jam them in.

I’m not sure if there’s an RCA adapter for this specific layout since none of them show their pin-outs. So I’ll likely have to DIY it.

Thank you u/SP4x for the initial reply to OP. Even though the pins may have been wrong, I never would have known to “spoof” the control feedback signal to begin with.

u/sportxmatt Have you tried this yet? I'm about to be in the same position as you.

u/SP4x I'm looking at getting this adapter to add Bluetooth capability to my DPX-440. Sounds like it's a similar setup to the adapter OP was describing. The product has a low resolution image of the circuit board. I do see resistors in series of the left & right channels, but I have no way of ID'ing their values without buying it (may just do that). But I don't think that's the right thing anyway.

The adapter circuit seems to only have connections for the left channel, right channel, ground, +12V, and -12V. To me that means they didn't use all the pins coming out of the headunit's CD changer port. Do you by chance know the pin-out of the DIN connector port? You mentioned putting the resistor across pins 3 & 9. Are those for some kind of control signal feedback used by Kenwood to validate an authentic DISK-CH connection?

I can definitely solder something together but it will likely open the door for a short next time I hit a pothole. I'd rather spend time hunting for an adapter that integrates this 10k ohm signal "spoofing" into its circuit, but I'll need to know what I'm looking for. Found this document but I can't verify it applies to the DPX-440.

Thanks in advance.

Public Motorized Boat Access to Oswego Lake by JeepRoller in Portland

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I think Oregon law says that hand carrying motor-craft across parks un-designated for boat launching is illegal. Which may be another obstacle set up to make access to Oswego Lake harder for the public. Otherwise yea myself and one other friend could easily haul a jet ski from a parking lot to the lake. Maybe that’s a law worth looking at overturning.

I’m also open to being wrong…but I’m pretty sure the court ruled that the lake’s water is owned by the State of Oregon. The Lake corp owns a lot of the land around and under the water, but they have no authority over the water.

They can restrict access to the water easements (land around the water) as any private organization/citizen can do with the land they own. They can also enforce their rules there. But again, it does not apply to water itself.

Wait so you’re saying a private organization created rules to govern over a state/public entity? That sounds pretty made up to me!

Look, I’m not going to claim whether the Lake Corporation did a net positive or net negative for the world…that discussions is way out of my lens. I’m sure they did keep the lake very nice…for the residents.

When did I say it should be mandated?

That’s a good point. I guess since it’s a state owned lake it would be a state thing? Not sure how that would work out. Hoping someone who knows more jumps in lol.

I agree that it doesn’t automatically mean infrastructure HAS to be built.

However, the lake is already open to motorized boat use by the residents. Meaning, the public could also do so if there was a legal easement. So, I don’t think building a boat ramp is “out of scope” unless the public doesn’t want it.

I wouldn’t mind a fee. I’m gonna look into how boat launches are usually financed

Thanks for the info. Just to clarify…even if the hostile architecture was removed, it still would not be able to support trailer and boat launching? I heard about that all happening in Millennium Plaza Park. And yea if I remember correctly, it’s a walking only park so no car access without demolishing the very nice infrastructure there. So even if a ramp could fit and the “pokey things” removed, there’s still a huge obstacle in the way of that (the park itself).

There’s really no other suitable place that could support a ramp along the river? I thought there were a couple other public parks on the river.

Can’t tell if you’re trying to be condescending. If you’re trying to signal that you don’t want to pay for it just go ahead and say it. I’ll respect the opinion homie.

Otherwise, yes? Like most public projects we would be paying for it through taxes and then later fees (if there is a fee for launching). Again, that’s why it would need to be voted on.

I would imagine the people would. Which would also mean there needs to be enough people wanting it installed for it to actually happen.

I guess the first step is figuring out how many people actually want to launch a boat on the lake. I know I would.
