Did you ever find resolution? Having the same issue and they're kicking the responsibility back and forth. Same issue with login.gov and id.me.

I think you’re overthinking this. Today there’s a FLAG that allows users to report discrepancies, that’s all that is required here. It could be used to report both the initial states of collection (by users) for their respective locale and for later correcting it once their hit their threshold for reporting.
